English Premier League Betting Preview and Odds for April 2017 First Week

After the international break, Premier League football gets back underway this weekend. All 20 Premier League clubs are in action on Saturday and Sunday, with league leaders Chelsea hosting Crystal Palace, whilst second placed Tottenham Hotspur travel to Burnley.

We’ve got several huge clashes to preview this weekend, including Saturday lunchtime’s Merseyside derby between Liverpool and Everton, and Sunday’s heavyweight clash, as Manchester City make the trip to Arsenal.

We’ll also be taking a look at Saturday’s south coast derby between Southampton and Bournemouth, as well as the tasty clash at the bottom, as Swansea City host Middlesbrough on Sunday.

Check out our live odds comparison, tips, best odds, analysis and more on the top four matches from the Premier League this weekend.

Liverpool v Everton: Reds To Edge It

There’s no other place to start than Saturday’s early kick off, as these two great rivals lock horns once again. However, this match has extra significance, as both are still eyeing a UEFA Champions League spot. Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool may be higher in the table, but Everton are not too far behind in seventh.

Our betting odds comparison shows the Reds as the 13/20 favourites, with BetVictor having the best price. That’s no surprise, considering Liverpool have been beaten just once on their own patch in the league all season.

As for Ronald Koeman’s men, despite being in good form, Betway are offering the big price of 9/2 for the Toffees to cause a stir at Anfield. Meanwhile, you can back the draw at 31/10 (BetVictor).

With Everton in good form, whilst the Reds have picked up but remain unpredictable, this derby match has all the makings of being an extremely tight affair. Nevertheless, being at home, we believe Liverpool will just have the edge. Therefore, it’s worth taking up BetVictor’s 13/20 for a home win.

Southampton v Bournemouth: Nothing To Split Them

On Saturday evening, Claude Puel’s Southampton entertain south coast rivals Bournemouth at St Mary’s, with the pair level on points in the Premier League table. After looking vulnerable, the Cherries have taken seven points from the last nine on offer, moving themselves away from the danger zone as a consequence.

As for the Saints, it’s been another season of transition for them. However, an EFL Cup final and a top-half Premier League finish will signal a decent season by the men from St Mary’s.

After beating Bournemouth 3-1 at Dean Court in December, Southampton will be keen on doing a league double this weekend. According to our odds comparison, Puel’s boys are the 13/20 favourites (William Hill), whereas the away win is available at 9/2 with Coral.

However, with nothing to split them in the table, we also believe there will be nothing between them on the pitch on Saturday, either. Ladbrokes are offering 14/5 for the draw, which we feel is worth having a punt on.

Swansea City v Middlesbrough: Swans Too Strong

Managerless Middlesbrough are running out of time to save their Premier League lives, and they travel to Swansea City this Sunday for a crucial clash at the Liberty Stadium in desperate need of the points. Boro go into this one five points adrift of the 17th placed Swans in the table.

Paul Clement has done a remarkable job in South Wales, even though his Swansea side are not out the woods just yet. The Swans looked doomed when Clement took over in January, but the former Derby County boss has guided the Welsh outfit to four priceless Premier League victories.

Despite both being around the drop zone, Swansea are the clear favourites with the bookies to take all three points from this crucial fixture. In fact, the best odds you can get on a Swans win are evens with William Hill.

Meanwhile, the draw is coming in at 5/2 (Betfair). Boro, who have only won once on the road all season, are available at the eye-opening price of 10/3 at BetVictor to claim a shock win.

However, we believe it will be a comfortable afternoon for Clement and co, piling more misery on Middlesbrough in the process. The standout bet in this one, therefore, is the home team to win -1, which Coral has priced at 14/5.

Arsenal v Manchester City: City For The Points

Saving the best for last, Arsene Wenger’s Arsenal and Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City go head-to-head at the Emirates Stadium this Sunday for an appetising heavyweight battle in north London. Will City pull away from the Gunners with a win, or can Arsenal claw back some precious points?

With the pressure growing ever stronger on Wenger’s shoulders, the Frenchman could really do with a performance from his underachieving superstars on Sunday. The Londoners, who always finish in the top four, find themselves in sixth place, with the likes of Manchester United and Liverpool showing no signs of relinquishing their top four places.

As for City, although it’s been an up and down first season for Guardiola in Manchester, they will be looking for a strong end to their campaign, starting with three points at the Emirates this weekend.

The Citizens go into this one as the bookies’ favourites, with BetVictor offering 11/8 for an away win. Arsenal may be at home, but the same firm are offering the tempting odds of 2/1 for a home triumph. The draw is available at 13/5 with Coral.

In truth, this one really could go either way. Both teams will be desperate for the points, and both will be going all out to get them. However, we believe Man City are better suited mentally to get the job done in the capital, so we advise you to take up BetVictor’s 11/8 for Guardiola’s troops to prevail.
