Europa League Betting Odds – Favourites to Triumph – 2016

The Europa League is back on Thursday 29th September with a full complement of fixtures. There isn’t quite anything to match the Champions League glamour ties taking place on the preceding two days but there are certainly plenty of great betting opportunities.

Here we take a look at four of the biggest matches from this gameweek. We’ve got previews of both English sides, as Man United host Zorya and Saints travel to Israel to take on Hapoel Be’er Sheva. In addition we’ve got predictions and betting tips for the second favourites in the outright Europa League betting, Roma, as well as a look at Inter Milan’s game away at Sparta Prague.

We’ve got betting tips for all four clashes, whilst our live odds comparison brings you the best odds from all the best bookies. Our odds comparison covers not only all the games taking place this – and every – week but also the outright winner betting. So, whether you fancy a bet on one of the upcoming matches or think you know who will win the 2017 Europa League, we can help you get the best betting odds as quickly and easily as possible.

Hapoel Be’er Sheva v Southampton

Hapoel Be’er Sheva are priced at best betting odds of 9/4 (Bet365) against Southampton, with the away team favourites at 16/11 with Unibet. The draw looks tempting at 9/4 but on balance we just about feel the Saints will have enough to get the win.

Claude Puel’s men started the season slowly, with just two points from their opening four Premier League games. However, they have improved since then and having beaten Sparta Prague 3-0 at home they will be confident they can get a result here.

It’s early days but at the moment they top Group K and will know that a win here would mean they have one foot in the next round. Things won’t be easy, however, as their opponents beat Inter Milan 2-0 in Italy in their first game.

That was a major surprise and if the side from Beersheba can recreate the performance they produced at the San Siro, the Saints will find things tough. However, we have to believe that Hapoel will fail to find another upset and with Southampton improving as the season goes on they look solid value at the current prices.

We predict a close fought game but the away win, perhaps by a goal to nil, is our betting tip here.

Sparta Prague v Inter Milan

The other game in Group K sees two sides who would have fancied their chances at the start but who now find themselves at the bottom of the pile. As said, it’s early days but defeat for either team here would leave them with a mountain to climb.

Sparta Prague finished second in the Czech league last year and are unbeaten this term (at the time of writing) but too many draws see them languishing in fourth place. Their squad is almost entirely home grown and with Czech football in general at a relatively low ebb right now, that means that Sparta are not the force of old.

Much the same can be said of Italian football and Inter though. Inter’s glory days are well and truly a distant memory right now and they are currently seventh in Serie A. The season is young but their 2-0 defeat at home against Hapoel was an awful result and pressure is mounting.

That said, the home side should be outclassed here. They are outsiders at 21/10, with the draw priced at best odds of 11/5 with Bet365. Our prediction though is for an away win and so our betting tip is simple: back Inter to win at nice odds of 29/20 with BetVictor.

Manchester United v Zorya

Man United were left reeling by a third defeat in a row (they went down 3-1 at Watford) that left them seventh in the Premier League. A loss away at Man City was not a huge concern but that was followed up by a 1-0 defeat in Feyenoord in the Europa League and the aforementioned reversal.

They have to turn things round here, although they will face Leicester in the league prior to this one. Regardless of the result in that match, they will be huge favourites here. They can be backed at odds of just 1/8 for victory, with the draw out at 8/1 and Zorya on offer at huge betting odds of 20/1 with a range of firms.

The match odds are unlikely to hold too much appeal to anyone, although Man United are a decent addition to a lengthy acca. Ukrainian minnows Zorya Luhansk are almost certain to finish bottom of Group A, despite their decent 1-1 draw with Fenerbahce last time out.

This will be a huge game for many of their players and there is a chance they will be overwhelmed by Old Trafford. We predict a routine home win for United, no matter what sort of XI Jose Mourinho fields.

United/United in the HT/FT betting is worth a punt but our main betting tip here is for Man United to win 3-0 at good odds of 6/1 with Paddy Power.

Roma v Astra Giurgiu

Roma are priced at odds of 13/1 (Unibet) in the outright Europa League betting and are well fancied to have a good season. They drew their opening Group E game at Viktoria Plzeň 1-1 but are big favourites to take three points here.

Roma can be backed at odds of just 7/20 here (with William Hill) whilst Romanian outfit Astra Giurgiu are out at 11/1. The draw is available at odds of 9/2 but we have to predict a home win.

Astra Giurgiu won at West Ham in qualifying but this is a major step up and with Roma very strong at home our betting tip here is Roma -1.5 at decent betting odds of 15/16 with BetVictor.
