La Liga Betting Odds: Barcelona set for Test in Bilbao as Real Face Girona

This weekend sees another full round of La Liga matches, with the big three aiming to further their title hopes. Both Barcelona and Atletico Madrid have tough tests over the weekend, but will that open the door for champions Real? Newly crowned FIFA Coach of the Year, Zinedine Zidane, has work to do to reach last season’s heights, but his side are heavy favourites for the points on Sunday. Ahead of their weekend matches, we’ve previewed all three games and picked out some betting tips, which you can see below.

Atletico Madrid v VillarrealCan Atletico Handle Villarreal?

While Atletico Madrid’s win last weekend has kept them in the title picture, their victory was nowhere near as comprehensive as Villarreal’s. The Yellow Submarine won 4-0 over Las Palmas, which makes them dangerous heading into this clash. Just three points separate the pair in the table, but can Atleti extend that lead?

We can’t see Villarreal being quite as high scoring at Atletico, especially when the hosts have been solid at home since moving to their new ground. After their narrow win over Celta, they seem back to their best defensively, and they’ll need that to edge such a big game. We’re predicting under 2.5 goals in this clash at best betting odds of 5/6 with William Hill. We can also see another 1-0 win for Atleti, which can be backed at 5/1 with Coral here.

Ath Bilbao v BarcelonaCan Bilbao end Barca’s Unbeaten Start?

Barcelona had a comfortable victory over Malaga last weekend, but that was expected against a side with one point so far. They lead second placed Valencia by four points, so things are looking good for Lionel Messi and co. ahead of their trip to Athletic Bilbao on Saturday. Having stayed unbeaten in their opening nine matches, the Catalans are out for their ninth win of the season this weekend.

The hosts lost 1-0 to Leganes last weekend, leaving them in the bottom half of La Liga. While heading to Bilbao is difficult, this shouldn’t be where Barca lose their unbeaten record. We expect them to claim all three points this weekend, and they should do that in comfortable fashion. They haven’t seen over 3.5 goals in any away game this season, which should continue against a side who have seen fewer than three goals in 67% of their matches this term. We’re backing a Barca win and under 3.5 match goals, which can be backed at 16/11 with Ladbrokes.

Girona v Real MadridCan Real win Where Atletico Couldn’t?

With their rivals having very tough meetings, Real Madrid face a trip to newly promoted Girona this weekend. They are widely expected to win on Sunday, but they’ll come here knowing that Atletico Madrid failed to win at Girona. However, the hosts are sitting just above the drop zone in La Liga, so it’s hard to see them stopping the champions.

Girona have lost their last three home matches, so we can’t see them posing any threat to Real this weekend. The visitors have produced their best form this season on the road, winning all of their games and averaging 2.5 goals per match in the process. They may have conceded in their last three trips, but that doesn’t matter due to Real’s impressive scoring form. We’re backing them to follow that up with more joy on the road, as we’re backing Real to win and over 2.5 match goals at 4/7 with Coral.

Real should score another three in this trip, with Girona struggling at the back and looking slightly out of their depth. The visitors have so much talent going forward, which saw them score three times at home to Eibar last weekend. We’re backing another three goal haul for Real, and they’re priced at 8/11 with Bet365 to score over 2.5 team goals this weekend.
