although we had the euros and the copa america to keep us entertained over the summer, it’s still been the same long wait for the return of the premier league. that wait is now over though and at 12.30pm on saturday afternoon the champions leicester will get the 2016-17 season started at hull.
we’ve got live odds comparison for all 10 premier league games this weekend as well as analysis, predictions and betting tips for the biggest five matches, including that clash at the kcom.
the other games we’ll be taking a look at are sunderland’s trip to man city on saturday evening, the two sunday games, bournemouth v man united and arsenal v liverpool and, on monday evening, chelsea v west ham.
this may well turn into the best premier league season since its inception, with more money than ever meaning better players, world class managers and unparalleled excitement. now it’s time to pick out some winning bets!
hull city v leicester city
managerless hull are odds-on for relegation and so it’s clear they face a tough task when the
foxes come to town for the premier league’s first game of the new season. there is no doubt that claudio ranieri’s men were a sensation last term and given they have only lost n’golo kante they should go well again this term.
they are priced at best betting odds of 33/1 (william hill) to retain their title and whilst that is sure to be beyond them they should have too much for hull here. leicester are 11/10 (bet365) favourites for the win, with the home side out at 14/5 with ladbrokes and the draw available at odds of 23/10.
we predict leicester will get all three points and 11/10 looks decent value given how good they were on the road last term. if you want to increase your return and are happy to take on a little more risk then back leicester to win by exactly one goal at 13/5 with bet365 in a game we predict could end 2-1.
manchester city v sunderland
pep guardiola and david moyes will take charge of their teams for the first time in a competitive game here and both will have high hopes for the season. for guardiola, silverware is a must, whilst moyes will be hoping to secure a safe, solid, mid-table finish in the north east.
city are huge favourites for the win here and having beaten sunderland three times last term it’s hard to disagree with the odds. our odds comparison will get you the best city odds without any fuss but even then you’re looking at a meagre return.
moyes will have done a lot of work on organisation and will go to the etihad seeking to frustrate the opposition. with that in mind and with city unlikely to be fully “pepped” this early under their new manager, our betting tip once again is a win for the favourites by exactly one goal. betting odds of 3/1 with betfair and others is good value in a game that we expect to be closer than many others predict.
bournemouth v manchester united
bournemouth did superbly well to stay in the premier league last term. they were ravaged by injuries but despite that and their lowly budget they showed what can be achieved with a fine manager and plenty of collective spirit.
if they thought the second season was going to be easier the fixture list quickly put paid to that. up first they have jose mourinho, £89m paul pogba, zlatan and the rest of man united’s star-packed ensemble.
bournemouth are struggling with the high wage demands of their transfer targets and are massive underdogs here at odds of 21/5 with betvictor. united are available at best betting odds of 19/25 with pinnacle but our betting tip is another win for the favourites but this time combined with btts. united to win and both teams to score is a great bet at odds of 16/5 with coral.
arsenal v liverpool
probably the highlight of the first round of premier league fixtures is this sunday afternoon clash at the emirates. both have enjoyed decent pre-seasons, although liverpool went rapidly from heroes to zeros in going down 4-0 to mainz having beaten barcelona by that same score in their previous game.
fans of both clubs will expect a top four finish and a title push this term, ideally with a cup thrown in for good measure. both may well be disappointed but there is no doubt that both aren’t too far away from being able to sustain a serious push for the title.
on home soil the gunners are rightly favourites here at best odds of 27/20. liverpool are available at 20/9 and the draw is 63/25, all of those odds coming from odds kings pinnacle.
last year these two clubs drew both league games and we predict another stalemate here. the corresponding fixture was 0-0 whilst the reverse game last term was 3-3. this year we’ll go for something in the middle, with 1-1 our correct score prediction at very nice odds indeed.
chelsea v west ham
it’s west versus east london at the bridge as antonio conte’s first game in charge of
chelsea sees slaven bilic’s hammers come to town on monday night.
chelsea were woeful last term, whilst west ham over-performed and if that pattern is repeated here then we’ll see an away win. last season the hammers finished 12 points clear of their rivals, the pair playing out an entertaining 2-2 draw at stamford bridge.
it could well be more of the same here and the stalemate certainly offers appeal at odds of 37/12. west ham are 5/1 with bet365 but we think they’ll struggle against a home side desperate to impress the new gaffer. as such our final betting tip for the premier league this weekend is safe and simple: bet on chelsea to win at odds of 13/20 with unibet.
