Newcastle United will have fire in their bellies after losing 3-0 to Villa Park. After last weekend’s clash, Eddie Howe described the loss as a blip and will now hope for a reaction from a group of players who have punched firmly above their weight this season. While the bookies have the Magpies at a shade of odds-on, we still think they could be a value bet to win.

After all, there was plenty to like about the recent 2-0 win over Manchester United at St James’ Park where Newcastle completely outplayed the Red Devils. They will be encouraged by the fact that Tottenham lost 3-2 at home to Bournemouth last weekend and we might see Spurs there for the taking against a Tyneside outfit with the bit between their teeth.

Newcastle can secure a top four place over the coming games and they will want to return to their defensively stubborn ways after letting three goals in at Villa Park. Howe might continue with Alexander Isak and Callum Wilson as the attacking duo, while we could see Sean Longstaff return to the starting 11 and he will add steel to the midfield department.

As for Tottenham, it’s not enough to suggest that Harry Kane can continue to fire them to victories even if the form of Son Heung-Min has improved. There are clearly defensive issues and several players appear to lack motivation now that Antonio Conte has left. It’s hard to feel confident that Spurs will be able to get anything from this encounter.
