Some readers might be surprised to learn that Tottenham have won this Premier League fixture in the past three seasons. Last year, a Heung-Min Son strike separated the teams, with the South Korean also on the scoresheet in the previous campaign as Spurs ran out as 2-0 winners. The season before, Son scored once again as part of a 2-0 victory, so they have a strong track record.

Even so, the bookmakers make the home team the big outsiders and Antonio Conte’s side have not been convincing for much of the season. They have won six of their ten matches at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium but the other games have ended in defeat. Defensively, there have been issues and the opposition have managed to find the net on fifteen occasions.

Manchester City have only a modest away record so far this season and there have been two draws and two defeats on the road along with the five victories. Guardiola’s men certainly don’t score anywhere near the same rate of goals away from the Etihad Stadium and it could therefore be worth backing the champions to land a slender margin of victory.

However, the draw looks to be a major player here. It’s a result that will please Spurs and they looked strong for the first half of the game at the Etihad before losing their way. It could also be worth considering a bet on Under 2.5 Goals. Tottenham have previously succeeded in this fixture by winning 1-0 or 2-0, with Spurs offering potential value on the Asian Handicap market.
