English League Two Tips – Week 7 Odds Comparison

Lincoln City v Crawley Town – Imps to Maintain Fine Start

League Two table-toppers Lincoln City have had an impressive start to the new season with five wins and a draw from their six games thus far. They are sitting pretty at the top of the tree on 16 points, three clear of Newport County who occupy second spot.

Crawley, meanwhile, have had a less than auspicious start to the campaign having mustered two wins and a draw with three losses. They lost to Oldham last time out just a day after losing their boss Harry Kewell to Notts County and as things stand they are yet to replace him.

This clearly plays into the hands of the hosts and we predict a relatively comfortable victory for Danny Cowley’s men.

Betting Tip: Lincoln City to Win to Nil

Northampton Town v Cheltenham Town – Both Sides Seeking Second Win of Season

Neither Northampton nor Cheltenham have started the new League Two season in style. Six games in and they are perched precariously in 18th and 21st positions respectively, each having attained a solitary win.

Gary Johnson’s Cheltenham are faring the worse of the two having lost four times already, and though they showed signs of life in their away win at Cambridge at the end of August, their home defeat to Colchester last weekend brought them back down to earth with a bang.

Being the home side, we favour Northampton here to get the three points. We hold the opinion that the Cobblers possess more in the way of firepower and general quality than their visitors and we’re backing a narrow victory for Dean Austin’s charges.

Betting Tip: Northampton Town to win by one goal

Bury v Grimsby Town – Mariners to Return to Winning Ways

Bury, who are 15th in the fourth tier, host 20th-placed Grimsby Town at Gigg Lane on Saturday hoping to build on their recent 3-2 win over Morecambe. Though the home side are the favourites with the bookies to prevail here, we think the value lies with backing an expected away victory for the Mariners at odds of 15/4 with bet365.

Michael Jolley’s men have been a tad unlucky to have mustered just one league win this term, but they put in a decent display to beat Notts County in the EFL Trophy in midweek and we think they can build on that confidence-boosting result to get another win in this one.

Betting Tip: Grimsby to Win

Oldham Athletic v Newport County – Latics to Grind Out Result

It doesn’t seem like too long ago that Oldham almost got the better of Manchester United in the FA Cup final… but we are probably showing our age there: it was way back in 1990. It’s been a massive fall from grace for Oldham since then, but there are signs things might be improving at Boundary Park.

While they have slipped up a couple of times, decent wins against Morecambe, Macclesfield and Crawley have given them hope of pushing towards the upper reaches of the table.

Under Frankie Bunn the Latics have started to look half decent and we think they could do a job on promotion-chasing Newport at the weekend. While Michael Flynn’s Newport are second in the division as things stand, we predict that it will be Oldham fans celebrating at the final whistle, and backing them to win this one could pay dividends at decent betting odds.

Betting Tip: Oldham Athletic to Win

League Two is the lowest rung of the Football League and the fourth tier of professional football in England, beneath League One, The Championship and the Premier League. We won’t be offering up too many betting tips for League Two as making predictions in this league is a very specialist area but what we do offer is the best live betting odds, via our odds comparison, which means that any bets you do place will be at the very best betting odds available. We’ve got a selection of outrights, along with odds for every single League Two game so bookmark this page if you like betting in the highly competitive world of what used to be called the Fourth Division.

League Two was, in fact, known as League Division Three prior to the 2004-05 season and the Fourth Division prior to the advent of the Premier League in 1992-93. Call it what you will, the fourth tier is always competitive and tends to feature a mix of youngsters trying to make their way in the game, perhaps rejected by bigger clubs, and aging journeymen.

At the start of this, the 2014-15 season it is Portsmouth – in the Premier League and winning the FA Cup just a few years ago – who are favourites for glory, at odds of 8/1, as shown in our odds comparison below.

Whoever you think will win though, either any given game or the league itself, if you’re going to be putting your money where your mouth is and placing a bet on your predictions, be sure to check here to get the very best odds.
