The 2015 season of MotoGP, the highest level of bike racing in the world, started back on the 29th March in Qatar and after five fascinating and somewhat surprising races we look set for one of the most exciting championships in recent memory. Our MotoGP outright winner preview gives you the best odds on whichever rider you fancy, as well as our own predictions and tips to help you choose, so whether you’re new to the sport or a MotoGP veteran, everything you need to secure a tidy profit is right here.

When the season began Marc Marquez, the 2014 and 2013 champion, was the clear favourite for a hat-trick of world titles. The young Spaniard seemed an unstoppable force in the world of racing and many were predicting an era of total dominance. The bookies were running scared and Marquez was a huge favourite in the outright betting with few doubting he would win the 2015 championship.

With almost one third of the season gone, Marquez remains the favourite with the odds men but there is virtually nothing between him and the two men behind him in the betting. Marquez can be backed at odds of 6/4 whilst Jorge Lorenzo is on offer at 7/4, the same betting odds as Valentino Rossi.

Marquez has enjoyed, or not as the case may be, a hugely disappointing start to the campaign and despite claiming pole in America, Argentina and last time out at Le Mans, he has managed just one race win to date, in America. Fifth in Qatar, fourth in the most recent race in France and a retirement in Argentina have left the Spaniard down in fourth place in the championship and there is clearly a lot of work to be done on and off the track.

As the new kid on the block has faltered, veteran Rossi has been a model of consistency, with two wins and three podiums from the five races to date. Rossi, who we tipped for the title at odds of 9/2 in our first look at the outright winner betting before the season began, has so much experience that he just has to be respected. The Italian won seven MotoGP titles between 2002 and 2009 and is a legend of the sport and now he has his nose in front he will take some stopping. He was second last year and whilst Marquez may yet catch him, given the current odds we simply have to make Rossi our main betting tip for outright success.

Of course, Lorenzo, who currently leads Marquez by 18 points and has won the last two GPs, would disagree with our prediction and there are sure to be some who will back the 2010 and 2012 champion. Lorenzo finished third last year and whilst there is a very real chance he may have what it takes, of the three men at the top of the betting, he is our least preferred option.

So, if you, like us, believe that age is just a number and that the Yamahas have the edge this season our betting tip is a simple one: back Rossi to be the outright MotoGP winner in 2015!
