The 2015-16 NFL season gets underway on 10th September with the Super Bowl winners, the New England Patriots, hosting the Pittsburgh Steelers. It will culminate with Super Bowl 50 (they’re dropping the Roman numerals for one year only!) on 7th February, and here we give our predictions for the NFL outright winner market with our Super Bowl betting tips and live betting odds comparison to help you get the best betting value.
Last season ended with Super Bowl success for Tom Brady and the New England Patriots, but their hard-fought 28-24 victory over the Seattle Seahawks in Arizona was undermined somewhat after the “Deflategate” scandal. The NFL found Patriots quarterback Brady guilty of knowingly using under-inflated balls during his side’s AFC Championship game against the Colts. As a result, Brady has been suspended for the first four games of the new season and the Patriots will lose two draft picks. That’s enough for us to avoid them in the betting despite them appearing to offer value at 9/1 with William Hill.
The Seahawks – currently priced as the 9/2 favourites with Bet365 – look a far better bet to us. They have built a fantastically robust roster of players with speed, power and great technique throughout their ranks. They were a little unlucky in defeat in the Super Bowl in February and they will be determined to come back stronger in the upcoming season.
It won’t be easy, of course, and there are plenty of sides who could go all the way. The AFC South side the Indianapolis Colts, for example, could well step up to the plate this season. They were somewhat overwhelmed by the Patriots when they lost 45-7 in the AFC Championship match, but after Deflategate coming to light, that scoreline has to be put in context. The Colts are therefore our top betting tip for outright NFL success in the coming season at nice betting odds of 12/1 with Ladbrokes.
From the National Football Conference, aside from the Seahawks, we like the look of the 2011 Super Bowl champions the Green Bay Packers. They lost 28-22 to the Seahawks in the NFC Championship game despite the eventual victors trailing 19-7 with just four minutes of the match left on the clock. The pain of snatching defeat from the jaws of victory will no doubt have proved a harsh lesson for the Packers, but if they learned from it they could prove a shrewd bet for outright NFL success this season at best betting odds of 8/1 with William Hill.
Those looking for a real outside shot at the Super Bowl 50 winners might cast their glance towards the Baltimore Ravens at 25/1 with William Hill. They performed well in the draft, picking up a top wide receiver in the form of Breshad Perriman, and they might just take a few big scalps in the upcoming season.
Overall though, the Seahawks are our main betting tip for success in the NFL outright winner market. They may be the favourites, but we expect them to live up to that tag in the 2015-16 season and win Super Bowl 50.Google+
