Match Betting (1x2)

The standout Champions League game of Match Week 3 is probably the clash between Ajax and Chelsea, with the Dutch side looking to enjoy another European adventure after reaching the semi-final stage of the competition last term.

Erik ten Hag’s side were a brilliant asset to the competition last term and they really should have beaten Tottenham in the semi-finals of the competition after previously knocking out Real Madrid and Juventus.

Ajax have begun the group stage with two wins to put them in the driving seat and they’ll now look to overcome their English opponents, with some likely to enjoy the 5/4 with Unibet that they claim another maximum haul.

On the one hand, they look a good prospect this season, although the Dutch champions have had to contend with losing several star players and perhaps the bookies are not respecting Chelsea’s chances enough.

Tammy Abraham and Mason Mount have been excellent throughout the season and will look to rack up another win for the Blues after they went to Lille and came away with a 2-1 win.

Chelsea are a 21/10 chance with Paddy Power to win the game and we think that Frank Lampard’s side will be going for a victory, with all departments now functioning well and that includes Fikayo Tomori in defence who has swiftly become first-choice.

The draw wouldn’t be a bad outcome for either side at this stage of proceedings, with Hills going 5/2 that this match ends all square and we’re happy to get with this at a juicy price.

First Goalscorer

Tammy Abraham has surpassed everyone’s expectations by snaring seven goals before the international break and he also scored the opener against Lille, with the England striker now trading at 6/1 to break the deadlock against Ajax.

The Amsterdam team might struggle to contain the lively forward who is carrying on where he left off at Aston Villa last term, with Mason Mount also having a brilliant time of things in the Championship for Derby and he bears some consideration on this market.

Mount is 8/1 to break the deadlock and the midfielder is sure to get into some attacking positions, although Ajax have several lively players of their own and they have currently scored six goals without reply.

Quincy Promes is available at 13/2 to score the opening goal of the game with Paddy Power, with the forward having found the net in both matches to date, while Chelsea will also have to keep an eye out for Hakim Ziyech.

The Moroccan forward is trading at odds of 6/1 and he has part of the Ajax team who fared so brilliantly in Europe last term.

Asian Handicap

The Asian Handicap market allows punters to bet on a team if you think that the match odds are wrong, with Chelsea looking like the sort of team that can get a draw at the very least.

Chelsea 0 is available to back at odds of 13/10 and that means money back if the game ends in a draw, with the Blues capable of keeping things close against Ajax and it’s arguable that they are the better team.

Chelsea +0.5 is available at 8/11 and we really like this bet which means a profit if the London side simply avoid defeat which we think is definitely on the cards.

Alternatively, if you think that Ajax will continue to steamroller teams in this Champions League group, then the home side are 14/11 with a -0.5 handicap, with a -1 handicap available at 23/10.

Both Teams to Score

The bookies are expecting a high-scoring affair and that is reflected in the Both Teams to Score quote considering that the “Yes” option is available at 4/7, with Chelsea tending to be involved in games where there are lots of goals being scored.

Ajax have scored three goals in each of their matches, while Chelsea are scoring so many goals on the road including a recent four-goal haul at Southampton.

However, it’s worth noting that the Dutch side have kept two clean sheets in the Champions League group thus far and the “No” option on the Both Teams to Score market is trading at 8/5.

Over / Under Goals

Following the theme that the bookies are expecting goals to be scored, then you can get Over 2.5 Goals at odds of 4/6 with William Hill.

If you want to be more adventurous, then Over 3.5 Goals is available at 13/8 with BetVictor and this means that you would need the net to bulge at least four times in order for the bet to cop.

Correct Score

We are fairly pro Chelsea considering they are probably the third-best team in England at the moment and we quite like the 28/1 about the Blues winning by a 3-2 scoreline in Amsterdam.

There’s a good team spirit in the ranks under Lampard and we also think they could repeat that 2-1 win over Lille which is currently available at 10/1.
