Preston North End find themselves in the last sixteen of the EFL Cup and the Lancashire side have earned themselves a plum tie at Deepdale against one of the biggest clubs in the land. There will be a full house for the arrival of Liverpool, with Jurgen Klopp never taking this competition particularly seriously although a youthful side should still be able to come this clash unscathed.

Don’t expect Klopp to risk too many of his star players for this clash, with Takumi Minamino and Divock Origi the two players who caused the most damage against Norwich in the previous round, with Conor Bradley and Kaide Gorden a couple of the younger players who caught the eye.

As for Preston, they are modestly averaging one point per match in the Championship and they are similarly only registering one goal per game. Frankie McAvoy is doing an admirable job although wins have been low on the ground this term.

While this tie is something of a money-spinner for PNE, it’s hard to see how they’re going to create too many chances based on the evidence so far this season. Therefore we can back a Liverpool win to nil with a degree of confidence.
