France v Germany Match Betting (1x2)

France won the 2018 World Cup and are now bidding to add a European Championship crown to their locker, with manager Didier Deschamps being able to call upon a similar squad of players that propelled the country to success three years ago.

Kylian Mbappe is now the attacking jewel in the crown for Les Bleus, although N’Golo Kante, Raphael Varane and Antoine Griezmann are among the important players in the team, while the manager also has Karim Benzema and Paul Pogba available.

The French couldn’t have been handed a more tricky opening match at Euro 2020 although some will fancy them at odds of 2.62 to overcome a Germany side at the Allianz Arena, with the home team having plenty to prove after an abysmal 2018 World Cup.

The Germans started the tournament as one of the favourites to land the overall triumph although a reverse against Mexico in their opening game had the alarm bells ringing and a defeat by South Korea saw them bomb out at the group stage.

Joachim Low has now refreshed his squad and will hope for better fortunes this summer, with William Hill offering 2.85 about a victory for a team who will hope that the crowd at the Allianz Arena carries them to three points.

With Portugal also lurking in the group, it’s an important match for both teams and we imagine no quarter will be given, with the draw possibly the best value bet of all.

Unibet have 3.20 that the clash ends all square and that would mean a valuable point is on the board for each team who will also play a qualifier as part of the group stage quota.

Asian Handicap

There will surely be a temptation to back one of these sides off zero on the Asian Handicap which effectively means they either land you a profit by winning, return your stake back by drawing and the bet only loses if they lose.

France 0 is available at an interesting 6/5 with BetVictor and you could argue that anything bigger than even money is a big price considering that they have the better tournament pedigree after Russia.

However, Germany do have that precious home advantage and they’re trading at 29/40 off scratch, while some might alternatively choose to back the hosts at 29/10 off -1.

Both Teams to Score

The million dollar question is whether France and Germany will go on the offensive from kick-off or alternatively spend some time weighing each other up.

We know from the qualification phase that both sides have big scoring ability and Paddy Power offer 4/5 about the “Yes” option on the Both Teams to Score market.

Alternatively, if you think at least one team will fail to find the net (and there’s also the possibility of a goalless draw), then even money is available about the “No” option.
