Netherlands v Ukraine Match Betting (1x2)

The Netherlands haven’t been seen at an international tournament since finishing third at the 2014 World Cup, although Frank de Boer’s team could return to the big stage with a bang at Euro 2020.

De Boer has replaced Ronald Koeman who oversaw the qualifying campaign before joining Barcelona, with the former now tasked with steering the team through the group stage of the competition and beyond.

The Dutch are trading at a best price 1.67 to enjoy an opening victory against the Ukraine on Sunday 13 June, with the team having largely cruised through qualifying and they registered six wins and a draw from eight matches.

Admittedly, Netherlands didn’t have a tough section considering Northern Ireland, Belarus and Estonia were there to be beaten, although there was also an impressive run in the Nations League and they also won 4-2 away to Germany in September 2019.

Koeman’s team will have home advantage for this clash although they will be up against another resurgent side in the form of Ukraine who came through qualifying in very impressive fashion.

You can certainly argue that Andriy Shevchenko’s side came through a tougher section to be lining up at this major tournament, with the men in yellow topping a group that also included Portugal and Serbia.

It was no mean feat that Ukraine managed to win six games and draw two and their obvious strength is a defensive one considering that just four goals were conceded in the ten games.

The visitors are 6.50 to land a victory in this clash, while you can certainly make a case for them landing a draw considering that they landed a goalless draw in Portugal and a 2-2 draw in Serbia.

You can get 3.75 with Unibet that this clash ends all square and it would be a good outcome for both teams considering that Austria and North Macedonia are the other sides in the section and the two teams involved here will be confident of automatic qualification.

Asian Handicap

We are big fans of this Ukraine team and while Shevchenko likes to play down expectations for his team, we think they could be underrated by the bookmakers here.

You can get around even money about the outsiders with a +1 goal advantage and that would mean money back if the Netherlands triumph by a single goal.

However, if the game ends in a draw or a Ukraine victory, then you would essentially double your money and that looks a good route to take.

Correct Score

This clearly represents a difficult assignment for the Ukraine although that defensive record is very strong and the fact that they prevented Portugal from scoring in Lisbon speaks volumes about the way in which the team are organised.

We wouldn’t rule out the possibility of this clash ending goalless and that is trading at 9/1 with some firms, while a 1-0 victory for the Dutch can be backed at 6/1.
