Brazil are the most successful nation in World Cup history, with this team continuing to be iconic in the modern age and they will attract a huge global audience for all of their games when it comes to the 2022 tournament. There is always a weight of expectation from a football mad nation who will expect to see Neymar fire the team to glory.

In the 2018 World Cup, Tite’s men were drawn in the same section as Serbia and Switzerland. Exactly the same thing has happened four years down the line and it’s uncanny that the trio will be clashing, with Brazil’s first clash coming against a Serbia side who can’t be underestimated.

Four years ago, goals from Paulinho and Thiago Silva helped Brazil earn a 2-0 win over these opponents, with the South American side going through as group winners and they overcame Mexico before losing to Belgium in the last eight stage. However, they were regarded by many as the best team in that particular tournament.

Tite has now been in charge since 2016 and it’s been a long-term position for someone who has the respect of his playing squad. Brazil were highly impressive in CONMEBOL qualifying considering that there were fourteen wins and three draws recorded. Forty goals were scored and just five were conceded along the way.

Neymar fired eight goals during qualifying and holds the key for this Brazil team, with the 30-year-old having the stage to create some magic, while Richarlison is also a potent threat for his country and there is the likes of Philippe Coutinho, Roberto Firmino, Lucas Paqueta and Raphinha pressing for inclusion.

Serbia could be tough opening opponents and they certainly won’t be fazed by the opening match considering that they topped a World Cup qualification group that also included Portugal. It was a last gasp Aleksandar Mitrovic goal that helped the Eagles win in Lisbon and there is plenty of quality within the ranks.

Mitrovic continues to be lethal for his country and much comes down to whether they can land a positive result in the group opener before easier clashes against Switzerland and Cameroon.
