we may only be eight games in to the new premier league season, but we’ve already been treated to a number of incredible matches, top goals, shock results and no lack of excitement. the epl has certainly lived up to its huge hype so far – long may it continue.
with the race for top spot already heating up, as well as the battle for survival, this weekend promises to be another enthralling weekend of premier league action. we’re here to give you the latest betting tips, predictions, analysis and live odds comparison on the weekend’s five biggest games from england’s top flight.
tottenham hotspur travel to bournemouth for the early kick off, whilst arsenal and middlesbrough go head-to-head at 3pm. liverpool host west bromwich albion in saturday’s late kick off, and manchester city entertain southampton and chelsea welcome manchester united on sunday.
we kick things off with the premier league’s early saturday fixture, where eddie howe’s bournemouth welcome mauricio pochettino’s high-flying tottenham hotspur to the vitality stadium. spurs will no doubt be the bookies’ favourites to claim maximum points, but we would not rule out an in-form bournemouth just yet.
tottenham are the only unbeaten team in the premier league, and they head to dean court just a point adrift of top spot. last season, pochettino’s men beat the cherries home and away with an aggregate score of 8-1. however, howe’s men also go into this one in good shape, having taken seven points from their last three pl games.
the lilywhites will fancy their chances of securing three consecutive victories against the cherries. coral are offering evens for an away win on our live odds comparison website at the moment and, considering spurs have won three and drawn two of their five away matches this season, we feel that’s a price worth taking advantage of.
despite a slow start to the season, arsene wenger’s arsenal have certainly found their feet in the premier league. the gunners are second in the table behind manchester city, having conceded just one goal more than the citizens. this saturday, the north london outfit welcome struggling middlesbrough to the emirates stadium.
in contrast, after a decent start to their campaign, boro are beginning to find life tough in the top flight. aitor karanka’s men have not won since beating sunderland in late august. defeat at home to watford on sunday was their fourth loss in five league games.
in truth, we can see arsenal steamrolling last season’s sky bet championship runners-up. the gunners have scored a very impressive 19 goals in eight epl games so far, and coral are offering the very tempting price of 29/10 for arsenal to score 4+ goals here which looks good to us.
saturday’s late kick off comes from anfield, as jurgen klopp’s liverpool welcome tony pulis’ west bromwich albion. the reds have been on fire of late, winning six and drawing two of their last eight games in all competitions.
as for the baggies, they have had a mixed bag of results this season. after winning two, drawing four and losing two of their opening eight matches, west brom currently occupy 12th place in the premier league table. last season, however, pulis’ men earned a 2-2 draw at anfield.
despite their pretty uneventful 0-0 draw with manchester united on monday night, liverpool should have too much for the baggies in this one. the merseysiders are strong on their own patch, and they will be looking to get back to winning ways after the stalemate with united. therefore, we like the look of betfair’s betting odds of 3/4 for the home side to win -1.
moving on to sunday’s games, first up sees pep guardiola’s manchester city entertain claude puel’s southampton. both teams are in european action in midweek before they square off at the etihad this weekend.
after a sluggish start, the saints are starting to look like their former selves, even if there is a new manager at the helm. southampton have won five and drawn two of their last seven in all comps, conceding just one goal in the process. after winning their first 10 matches of the season, city have not won in three.
we can’t see manchester city’s mini blip lasting for too much longer and we predict they will bounce back here. there’s no question that the saints are an extremely astute outfit under their new french boss, but considering city have drawn two and lost one of their last three matches, the citizens will be going all out for the win. we feel the standout bet here is for the home side to win and both teams to score, which is nicely priced at betting odds of 2/1 with coral.
the biggest game of this weekend’s action is no doubt the blockbuster fixture at stamford bridge between antonio conte’s chelsea and jose mourinho’s manchester united. almost a year on from his sacking, mourinho makes his first return to the bridge and our odds comparison will bring you the best odds whatever you want to bet on.
on paper, these two are extremely well matched, but being in west london, many are sure to predict a blues win. after a poor couple of results, chelsea look to be back somewhere near their scintillating best. the way they put claudio ranieri’s champions to the sword on saturday was breathtaking at times. as for united, they managed a 0-0 draw with rivals liverpool on monday night.
this tasty looking fixture has the potential to swing either way. conte is starting to get his message across to his players, whilst mourinho would love to upset his old pals. we just have a sneaky feeling that these two english giants will cancel each other out at the bridge. our odds comparison shows the draw is currently priced at 12/5 (betvictor), and we believe that’s the best choice of bet in this one.
