They then came from behind to beat Villarreal and climbed an even bigger mountain against Atalanta when going 2-0 down before storming back to win 3-2.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s team will now bid to take a step closer to the last sixteen stage of this competition by beating La Dea for a second time and they’re slight betting favourites to win the clash, although it’s hard to be confident about a side who conceded five goals at home to Liverpool in a recent Premier League clash.
Perhaps Atalanta are the United of Serie A, with Gian Piero Gasperini deploying an attack-minded approach when it comes to the majority of their matches, although injuries have blighted their prospects in the Champions League and they were missing lots of players for the reverse clash.
Attack will be the best form of defence for both teams and this is a game that Atalanta can ill-afford to lose, with the Serie A side likely to get on the front foot in search of goals.
