Lille v Chelsea Betting Odds Comparison

Match Betting (1x2)

It’s been a topsy-turvy opening to the season for Chelsea, with Frank Lampard taking the reins at Stamford Bridge in the face of a transfer embargo and the rookie manager is also looking to give youth an opportunity in the form of Tammy Abraham, Mason Mount and Fikayo Tomori.

Chelsea did acquit themselves well against Liverpool and Valencia recently, although they were beaten in both games and the defeat against Los Che means that they can ill-afford to lose at the Stade Pierre-Mauroy.

The Blues are 11/10 favourites with Unibet to overcome Lille and claim their first Champions League group win, although we’re not sure we can be too confident about their chances.

After all, they were thrashed 4-0 at Manchester United in their first away match and away victories at Norwich and Wolves still saw them concede two goals in each of these games.

While Lampard’s team are attack-minded in the extreme and are sure to create chances, they will come up against a Lille side who have won all three of their Ligue 1 clashes at the time of writing.

Christophe Galtier’s side are a meaty 13/5 with William Hill to win this clash and bounce back from their 3-0 defeat away to Ajax in Game Week 1, with Lille having already beaten Nantes, St Etienne and Angers at home this season.

The draw is trading at 5/2 and we can see both teams involved in a high-scoring affair where they might potentially cancel each other out.

First Goalscorer

Frank Lampard is persisting with Tammy Abraham as the Chelsea centre forward despite the more experienced Olivier Giroud being available and it will be interesting to see whether the manager opts for the younger of the two players here.

Abraham has pilfered seven goals in the Premier League this season and he’s trading at 5/1 to score the opening goal of this game, with the England hopeful starting to show that he’s not just someone who can plunder at Championship level.

Giroud is an 11/2 chance and it’s possible that the former Arsenal forward will be given the nod as someone who can link up with other attacking players, with the striker having previously proved a foil for teams.

Mason Mount looks capable of scoring in any game for the Blues and he’s available at 7/1 to break the deadlock in this encounter, while Willian is a 9/1 chance and he appears to have crept back into favour at Stamford Bridge.

As for Lille, they have some dangerous players of their own and there is a reason why they qualified for the Champions League in the first place.

Victor Osimhen has got five goals on the board already and the 20-year-old has the potential to outshine Abraham on the night, with the Lille forward trading at 13/2 to score the first of this game.

Asian Handicap

We firmly believe that the prices for this match are wrong as far as Full Time Result is concerned. With this in mind, we are looking at getting with Lille on the Asian Handicap considering they boast a 100% record when it comes to their home form.

The Ligue 1 outfit are available at a tasty 29/18 with BetVictor off 0 and that means money back if the game ends in a draw, although we’re confident that they stand a much greater chance of winning than the odds suggest.

As for Lille +0.5, that can be backed at 3/4 with Unibet and that means having to avoid defeat against a Chelsea side who aren’t really landing many victories at the moment.

Both Teams to Score

We would have Both Teams to Score trading at odds-on and the same applies to our bookmaker friends who don’t trust either of these teams to keep a clean sheet. Some bookmakers have 3/4 about the “Yes” option and it’s very rare to see Chelsea fail to find the net in any clash.

Similarly, Lille will surely score at least one goal although it should be noted that Chelsea lost their opening match by a 1-0 scoreline and their French opponents were beaten 3-0 against Ajax, so both teams might approach this clash with an air of caution.

BetVictor go 23/20 about the “No” option on the BTTS market and perhaps we’ll see a cagey opening to the encounter considering this is a match that both teams can ill-afford to lose.

Over / Under Goals

Most bookies make it 50-50 whether or not this game will feature Over or Under 2.5 Goals and punters have to decide how many times they think the net will bulge. When it comes to Chelsea matches, we tend to err towards Over 3.5 Goals and that has happened in every Premier League involving the Blues aside from a 1-1 draw against Leicester.

Over 2.5 Goals is available at 10/11 across the board, with Lille’s three home matches to date featuring three goals or more too. Both teams will know this is a game that has to be won considering Ajax and Valencia both got off to a winning start and now play each other.

Under 2.5 Goals is trading at a similar price and plays to the narrative that this could be a low-scoring affair, with Frank Lampard hoping that the return of N’Golo Kante shores things up.

Correct Score

We wouldn’t put anyone off the 12/1 about the 2-2 draw occurring here, something that happened when Chelsea met Sheffield United, while the Blues narrowly beat Norwich by a 3-2 scoreline and a repeat of the latter is trading at 22/1.

Lille will be looking to continue that strong home form going and we think the 30/1 about them winning 3-1 could be a spot of value. We’re not sold on the fact that Chelsea are such warm favourites for this one.
