Match Betting (1x2)

Tottenham Hotspur were unlikely Champions League finalists last season, with Spurs having come back from the brink to actually qualify for the last sixteen of the competition before then getting the better of Borussia Dortmund, Manchester City and Ajax in the knockout stages.

However, the London side were beaten by Liverpool in the final and will now hope to go one better when they embark on another European adventure this time around, with Ladbrokes offering 10/11 that the visitors return back from Greece with three points.

Olympiakos managed to negotiate several qualifying rounds to reach the Champions League group stage and they’re the only representative from Greece in the competition.

The Athens-based side fended off the challenge of Viktoria Plzen and Krasnodar to reach this phase of the competition, although they’re big outsiders at 10/3 (William Hill) to open with a victory.

It’s likely that Olympiakos will need to win games such as this one in order to qualify, although the Greek side might also consider that a draw would be a good result considering that third place in the group would mean a Europa League spot.

BetVictor offer 13/5 about the draw and it must be noted that Spurs have not began the season in vintage style despite two draws at Manchester City and Arsenal. In between those two results was a 1-0 reverse at the hands of Newcastle United.

First Goalscorer

Harry Kane has been firing home goals for England during the international break and might enjoy the chance to line up against a team whose Super League is far from one of the strongest domestic competitions in Europe.

The Tottenham captain is the 3/1 favourite to open the scoring at the Karaiskakis Stadium in Piraeus, with Kane on penalty duties and it could be that the visitors are awarded a spot kick against a team who will be looking to avoid conceding at all costs.

Dele Alli has recently returned from injury and he could be an interesting bet at 5/1 with Ladbrokes. The midfielder has clearly fallen down the England pecking order and will want to start demonstrating that he’s worthy of a place.

As for Lucas Moura, he’s no stranger to scoring goals in Europe and his famous hat-trick at the Amsterdam Arena last season helped Tottenham to enjoy a famous comeback victory which will go down in history.

Pedro Martins’ side have enjoyed seven straight wins at the time of writing, with Moroccan forward Youssef El Arabi having plundered three goals for his team so far including a brace against FK Krasnodar in the Champions League play-off.

He’s trading at 8/1 to score the opening goal, while Miguel Angel Guerrero is another plausible option to notch the first of the game.

Both Teams to Score

The bookmakers think it’s marginally more likely that both teams will find the net in Athens compared to the probability of at least one side failing to score.

Tottenham have found the net twice away to City and Arsenal, so you have to consider it fairly likely that Spurs will be among the goals in Greece, although it’s far from certain as to whether Olympiakos can make the step up in quality.

We’re erring towards the “Yes” option on the BTTS market, with Paddy Power having 4/5 that this happens. Ultimately, Spurs will care little about conceding a consolation goal providing that they get off to a winning start in the Champions League.

Alternatively, those wanting to back “No” can get a meaty 21/20 with BetVictor and it might come down to whether you can trust the Spurs defence to keep a clean sheet if they’re on their way to a victory.

Over / Under Goals

In the Premier League to date, Tottenham’s matches have featured 4, 4, 1 and 4 goals. Therefore, they’ve clearly been involved in some high-scoring encounters and Over 2.5 Goals is on offer at even money with BetVictor.

If you’re feeling more ambitious with your online betting, then Over 3.5 Goals is chalked up at 13/5 with Paddy Power, with customers needing at least four goals to be scored and we can bank on this being a fairly open encounter.

Alternatively, it could be that Olympiakos see getting a point as an encouraging opening to their European campaign and you can get Under 2.5 Goals available at 5/6 with BetVictor. This would mean two goals or less being scored in the game overall.

Correct Score

Incredible as it sounds, Olympiakos have been very strong at home in Europe this season to the extent that they have enjoyed consecutive 4-0 home wins on the continent.

The Greek side claimed a 4-0 triumph over Viktoria Plzen before doing the same against Krasnodar and you can get a massive 200/1 with Paddy Power that they are able to inflict the same scoreline on Tottenham.

This could be completely out of the question, although a 2-1 triumph in favour of the Athens side has been chalked up at 15/1 with BetVictor and the Greek outfit will be able to rely on a raucous home support from the terraces.

Alternatively, Spurs could potentially show more class and our preferred scoreline when it comes to an away victory is 2-1 in favour of the London outfit.

That can be backed at odds of 8/1 with Coral, with Mauricio Pochettino’s side clearly boasting the better players and that could ultimately prove to make all the difference.
