Perhaps we shouldn’t have been surprised that Austria were able to win Group D. After all, they claimed six wins and a draw during qualifying for Euro 2024, with the team scoring more than two goals on average and they were able to beat Sweden home and away. They have come to the tournament playing some great football and look a good bet to win.
The Austrians are managed by Ralf Rangnick who is a wily operator and it’s worth noting that they beat Turkey 6-1 in a Vienna friendly as recently as March. A Michael Gregoritsch hat-trick featured in that game and it could well be worth backing the team to claim another success against a Turkish side that finished second in Group F.
The Turks were able to beat Georgia by a 3-1 scoreline in their opener and they also beat Czech Republic in their final clash, although they were helped by their opponents being reduced to ten men. There was also a heavy 3-0 defeat at the hands of Portugal, with the team having finished top of their qualifying group ahead of Croatia.
The underdogs have had five different scorers during this tournament and we’re expecting this team to play their part, although Austria are capable of outscoring their opponents and claimed a 3-2 win over the Netherlands in the last game. Captain Marko Arnautovic looks set to lead the line, with Marcel Sabitzer driving the team forward.
