Barcelona currently face the unthinkable prospect of missing out on next season’s Champions League. The Catalan side sit fifth in the La Liga table after earning thirty-one points from nineteen games played. While Lionel Messi was sold to Paris Saint-Germain last summer, the problems at the Nou Camp run a lot deeper than simply losing their star player and talisman.

It was Ronald Koeman who began the season in charge of Barca, although the Dutchman has been recently replaced by club legend Xavi. With Real Madrid looking like runaway leaders and Spanish champions-elect and Sevilla sitting pretty in second place with games in hand, it could be a battle between Barca, Real Betis and Atletico Madrid for a top four spot.

Are Barcelona a Banker to Win at Nuevo Los Cármenes?

Barcelona have only won eight of their nineteen Spanish La Liga encounters this season. It hardly inspires confidence although the bookmakers perceive them to be strong favourites to collect a much-needed three points from their trip to Nuevo Los Cármenes.

When you examine Barca’s away form, it’s even harder to be confident considering that there have only been two wins in nine away clashes. Five of the games have been drawn, so it’s easy enough to go down the route of this match ending all square, especially as the home side would be delighted with a point against esteemed opponents.

Xavi has made a positive impression on the squad and the team are currently enjoying a four-match unbeaten run. A 2-2 draw at Osasuna was followed by a 3-2 win over Elche, while Barcelona were boosted by a 1-1 draw at Sevilla before looking strong defensively when overcoming Mallorca by a single goal.

Granada Face a Barcelona Team Missing Memphis Depay

Granada are trading at around the 18/5 mark to claim the scalp of Barcelona and they will be taking on opponents who are likely to be missing star striker Memphis Depay. The Dutch striker has been one of the few shining lights for the Catalan side and his absence leaves a big hole when it comes to the attacking power of the visitors.

The home side sit thirteenth in the table and they’re well clear of the drop zone right now, with the Nazaries having avoided defeat in thirteen of their nineteen league clashes this season. They are certainly capable of getting a positive outcome when meeting a team who have recently landed Ferran Torres.

Recent form has been highly encouraging, especially at Nuevo Los Cármenes. There was a stunning 4-1 win over Mallorca on 19 December and that was followed by a 2-1 triumph against Atletico Madrid before Christmas which gave them a real boost ahead of the winter break. Granada were also unlucky not to land all three points away to ten-man Elche in a more recent clash.

What Are the Best Bets for This Game?

Having claimed those December home wins over Mallorca and Atletico Madrid, we’re happy to take a punt on Granada. The big question is whether we simply take a wager on them on the Full-Time Result market or alternatively opt for a more safer bet when it comes to the Asian Handicap or Draw No Bet route.

The other route could be to back a low-scoring clash. Xavi seems keen to be defensively stronger and Under 2.5 Goals could be the play here, with Granada wary of Ferran Torres who will be looking to make a big impression since completing a fairly big money move from Manchester City.
