Napoli v Leicester City Betting Tips

After fourteen Game Weeks in Serie A, it is clear that Napoli are serious title contenders this season. There isn’t much between the leading sides in Italy and Luciano Spalletti’s team are leading the way after racking up a very creditable thirty-five points along the way.

The home form has been particularly excellent, with six wins and a draw at Stadio Diego Armando Maradona, with a recent 4-0 victory against Lazio illustrating that it will take a strong team to get the better of a side whose priority is the domestic form.

Will Napoli Field a Strong Team to Win Europa League Clash?

Throughout the Europa League group stage, Napoli have been conservative with team selection and avoided fielding their strongest possible teams, with this European competition not meriting the same levels of respect as the Champions League. Right now it looks like the Naples team will certainly be playing in the latter competition next season.

Dries Mertens is one of those players who are being used sparingly and we should expect the Belgian to potentially feature in this clash. It shouldn’t be forgotten that Serie A have a winter break which might mean that more of the big guns feature and this includes Piotr Zielinski.

It’s been amusing to see Napoli half-try in this competition, coming from two goals down to land a 2-2 draw at the King Power and occasionally turn things on, with a combined seven goals being scored over two games against Legia Warsaw, although they lost at Spartak Moscow in their past match.

Leicester Need a Draw in Naples to Go Through

Leicester City have had a tricky 2021-22 season and they are certainly struggling to replicate the fifth-placed finish which has been achieved in the previous two seasons. The Midlands side do sit top of Europa League Group C although there’s the very real prospect of the Foxes actually dropping down to third spot and going into the Europa Conference League.

Brendan Rodgers’ side will be anticipating that Spartak Moscow will get the right result away to Legia Warsaw and therefore will need to take at least a point in Naples. However, this is a team who have failed to keep a clean sheet in the Premier League in the opening domestic match of the campaign.

Rodgers will feel as though his team’s attack can cause their opponents problems and that includes the firepower of Jamie Vardy, with James Maddison having shone brightly in recent weeks although there’s the nagging feeling that the defence is going to let them down when it comes to the big occasion.
