Real Madrid v Bayern Munich Betting Markets
Bayern Munich won't be playing for a draw when they head to Santiago Bernabeu for this Champions League quarter final first leg encounter. The tie takes place on 7 April, with the German side trading at slight odds-against to claim a victory in the Spanish capital.
Vincent Kompany's side proved far too strong for Atalanta in the previous round. They claimed a 6-1 victory in Italy before finishing the job with a 4-1 success against the Italian side at the Allianz Arena. It will take a good team to stop them over two legs.
Perhaps the tie will be closer than the odds suggest. Bayern did lose 3-1 to Arsenal back in November and the Bundesliga isn't quite at the same level as the Spanish La Liga or the English Premier League. Even so, it has been nine wins in ten matches across all competitions with the exception of a 1-1 draw in Leverkusen.
The odds suggest that Bayern Munich have nearly a 50% chance of landing a first leg victory, although Real Madrid might be worth a punt. After all, it was no mean feat to secure a 3-0 victory against Manchester City and that was achieved without the injured Kylian Mbappe. The Frenchman should be back in the fold for this encounter.
Real were full value for a 5-1 aggregate win over Manchester City and few teams could have done this against Pep Guardiola's side. Federico Valverde is in excellent form and the advantage at the Bernabeu could certainly ensure that Alvaro Arbeloa's side are in the driving seat when it comes to the second game in Bavaria.
At the very least, the draw is worthy of consideration. Los Merengue have won thirteen of their fifteen games at the Santiago Bernabeu and we think that they could be difficult to beat.
Goals Under/Over
Goals could certainly be on the cards. After all, there were a grand total of twelve goals scored across two games involving Bayern Munich and Atalanta. While the goal ratio was a lot more modest between Real Madrid and Manchester City, both of these ties went over the 2.5 goal line.
At the time of writing, the past five Los Merengues games have ended with three goals or more. That has also happened in seven of the previous eight encounters involving Arbeloa's side. They recently had a 3-2 success against Atletico in the derby where a grand total of seventeen shots on target were registered.
Bayern are also sharp shooters and that 1-1 draw away to Leverkusen is the only time where the goal tally hasn't gone over two in the space of eight games. We can be confident that the net will bulge plenty of times here.
BTTS
Both teams to score is trading at 1.44 and those odds suggest that there's a 70% chance that Real Madrid and Bayern Munich will score. Before a 4-0 drumming of Union Berlin on 21 March, Vincent Kompany's side had previously played out six consecutive matches where BTTS Yes was the outcome.
On a similar note, all of these games were won by Bayern including the two games against Atalanta. Therefore, if you're leaning towards an away win, then you might do worse than combine this outcome with both teams to score. It's perfectly possible that we'll see the German side land a victory along the lines of a 3-1 or 3-2 scoreline.
Real Madrid can ill-afford to sit on their haunches and play defensively. An attacking approach against Manchester City yielded dividends and saw them claim a 3-0 first leg win. With Kylian Mbappe back in the squad, it strengthens the chances of them notching at least one goal and we think BTTS Yes could be a great acca pick.
Four of the past five Real Madrid matches at the time of writing have seen BTTS Yes as an outcome. The only time that BTTS No happened was when Manchester City surprisingly drew a blank at the Bernabeu.
First Goalscorer
Kylian Mbappe came off the bench in the Madrid derby and the Frenchman should be fit and firing by the time that this match comes around. The legendary striker was on the sidelines for roughly a month although his current goal tally stands at forty-three in all competitions. He's likely to be a popular selection in the first and anytime scorer market.
Vincius Junior has come to the party in a big way over the past few months. He scored a brace at the Etihad Stadium and followed this up with another two-timer to help Real win the Madrid derby against Atletico. Federico Valverde has also found a scoring touch and pilfered a hat-trick against Manchester City.
Harry Kane is having a superlative season for Bayern Munich and it's hard to see how the former Tottenham striker won't play a big part in this game. The England captain has managed forty-eight goals in all competitions and it's rare when the player fails to find the net. In the past ten encounters, only a 1-1 draw at Leverkusen saw the player draw a blank.
In four of the past six games, Kane has scored two goals. We think there's a case for putting together a Bet Builder which includes both Mbappe and Kane to find the net. Luis Diaz is also a danger man and he's scored three times across four games.
