Coventry City famously won the FA Cup in 1987 and they are now two games away from repeating this feat. While it’s hard to imagine that the Championship side will be victors in this competition, they will have the confidence of beating Wolves at the quarter final stage when coming back from 2-1 down to record a dramatic victory.
The Sky Blues sit seventh in the Championship standings after a solid season and it should be noted that they reached the play-off final last term before losing to Luton Town. They recently beat Leeds 2-1 at the Ricoh Arena, although there have also been defeats suffered against Cardiff and Southampton.
Much depends on which Manchester United team turn up for this encounter. The Red Devils were able to beat Liverpool in the quarter finals and they also held their arch-rivals to a 2-2 draw in the Premier League. However, they threw away a 3-2 lead at Stamford Bridge and don’t always play the role of flat-track bullies particularly well.
Kobbie Mainoo should thrive on the big Wembley pitch, with Bruno Fernandes also enjoying some smart form. However, perhaps a better value bet is backing Manchester United to win and both teams to score in this clash. We think that Coventry will be out to put up a decent fight and the fact that they scored three goals at Molineux bodes well here.
