Thomas Tuchel’s side produced an excellent performance to win 3-0 away to Tottenham Hotspur, although Chelsea were brought crashing down to earth when losing 1-0 at home to Manchester City, with the manager unhappy with the overall performance which was largely tentative and defensive.

We should expect the Blues to bounce back against a shot-shy Southampton team who did recently achieve a goalless draw at the Etihad Stadium before failing to again find the net in their clash against Wolves, with Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side without a win in the Premier League this term although four of their six fixtures have ended all square.

It will be interesting to see how the Saints handle a centre forward like Romelu Lukaku who will be looking to return to the goal trail and the London side had scored twelve goals in five EPL clashes before drawing a blank against Manchester City, with the home team’s defence looking very likely to shut out their opponents.

Edouard Mendy is having an excellent time of things and operates behind a sturdy back three that always includes Antonio Rudiger, while N’Golo Kante and Mateo Kovacic are often the preferred options to rove forward in front of Jorginho and offer a goal threat of their own.
