We’re looking forward to this clash at Elland Road, with Leeds United and Liverpool meeting on Monday night and the former are hovering above the drop zone right now. They will hope that results have gone their way over the weekend or they could be staring down the barrel when facing dangerous opponents who came from two goals down to draw 2-2 against Arsenal.
Leeds started the season with Jesse Marsch in charge and the American engineered a 2-1 win at Anfield this term which is the only time that Liverpool have been beaten at home. However, it’s a different story on the road where eight different teams have beaten their Merseyside opponents and the Yorkshire side will be bidding to become the ninth.
Incredibly, Liverpool have scored less than one away goal on average this term and it’s clear that Sadio Mane’s absence has been felt, while Luis Diaz has been a long-term absentee and it’s hard to describe the Reds as banker material considering that they have been defeated in over 50% of their away clashes.
Perhaps that comeback against Arsenal can rally the troops and the Liverpool team don’t have any European distractions at this stage of proceedings, with Mohamed Salah capable of causing big problems on the right flank. It’s also noticeable how Trent Alexander-Arnold is getting into attacking positions and perhaps this will continue here.
