Newcastle United have failed to win any of their opening eleven Premier League matches. Therefore, it might seem strange to predict a victory for a Magpies side after the international break although this is now a team operating under Eddie Howe and the squad might benefit from having a new lease of life.

Howe previously did some sterling work in charge of Bournemouth despite being ultimately relegated and he is now tasked with getting points on the board with an existing group of players over the next few weeks. After this, it will be all about recruiting new faces and lifting the team higher up the standings.

This looks like a favourable opening fixture for Howe, with Brentford one of the newly-promoted teams and the Bees are starting to fade after a bright start. Thomas Frank’s side opened the season with a win over Arsenal and they have also triumphed at West Ham along with a 3-3 draw against Liverpool.

However, more recently, the team have hit the buffers. A 3-1 defeat at Burnley was followed by a 2-1 home reverse against Norwich City and this could be yet another defeat for the visitors who might struggle to compete at a boisterous St James’ Park.
