Match Result: Roma v Como

Como finished tenth in Serie A last season although they're focused on a much better achievement this time around. The Lariani are well backed financially and it has helped them challenge at the top end of the table. Their recent 4-0 defeat at the San Siro was hard to take although they had previously gone twelve games without suffering a loss and will be aiming to regroup when visiting the Stadio Olimpico.

Indeed, recent form has been fairly impressive. A 5-1 triumph away to Torino was a big statement and was followed by a 2-0 success against Sassuolo. Previously to that, we saw a strong defensive set-up by virtue of goalless draws against Parma, Napoli and Cagliari. They were actually in the game against Inter and the scoreline was exaggerated by two late goals from the Serie A title challengers.

We know that Como will see plenty of the ball in this game and face a Roma side who have claimed four victories and suffered three defeats at home. It's feasible that Gasperini's side can challenge for the Scudetto this term, although the team need to get back on track quickly. They have recently been handed successive 1-0 defeats against Napoli and Cagliari.

We're not too keen to bet on Roma at the betting odds and think that Como can get back to unbeaten ways. This might well be the time to back the visitors although the draw is probably a safer bet. Let's remember that a goalless draw at the Diego Maradona Stadium was a great feat and there could be goals from a side who notched five against Torino.

There's the option to go for Fabregas' side along with the draw and perhaps that is worthy of consideration in an accumulator or Bet Builder.

Goals Under/Over

Under 2.5 Goals seems an obvious favourite for this Serie A showdown. The odds of 1.66 reflect that there's around a 60% probability that no more than two goals will be scored. It's worth paying special attention to Roma's seven matches at the Stadio Olimpico this term. The fans have not been royally entertained considering that the net has bulged just eleven times across seven encounters.

Gian Piero Gasperini was previously known for entertaining football at Atalanta, although there have been a spate of low-scoring clashes involving the Wolves this term. Six of Roma's seven home clashes have featured Under 2.5 Goals and the only exception was a 2-1 success against Parma where the scoreline was 1-0 until the final ten minutes.

Como's away games have followed a similar pattern. There have been sixteen goals scored across seven clashes, with that 5-1 win in Torino taking up a decent percentage of that tally.

BTTS

BTTS No is the favourite of the two outcomes for this Monday night clash. The chances are that at least one team will fail to score. Roma have only conceded an impressive four goals in their seven matches at the Stadio Olimpico this term. Similarly, they have only scored seven times and those averages are low enough to go for this betting option.

Como average just over one goal both in terms of scored and conceded on the road. It's also notable that they have been involved in several recent goalless draws. The first of the campaign happened at Parma towards the end of October. Since then, there were successive bore draws against Napoli and Cagliari.

Six of the past eight matches involving Como in Serie A have been BTTS No games and they will be looking upon a draw in this clash as a positive outcome. There might also be a reaction to conceding four at the San Siro, with five of Roma's last seven matches also seeing at least one side fail to find the net. You might do worse than back No Goalscorer where you still profit if the only goal of the game is an own goal.

First Goalscorer

We're not sure that this market provides lots of value if you anticipate a low-scoring encounter. However, let's take a deeper dive into Nico Paz who is a bright youngster who has shown himself more than capable in front of goal this term. The player is on loan from Real Madrid and the twenty-one-year-old has so far bagged five which means he's riding high on the scoring charts.

The player was on the scoresheet at Torino and that was his first away strike of the season after previously scoring four goals on home soil. Another youngster in impressive form is Jayden Addai and the Dutch midfielder was able to score twice in that game in Turin. He previously found the net for Fabregas' side away to Fiorentina.

Matias Soule is arguably the most likely scorer for Roma, with the latest strike coming at Cremonese as part of a 3-1 victory. That was at the end of November, with that coming after bagging away to Rangers in a European encounter. There have also been goals against Pisa, Verona and Fiorentina.
