England v Ghana Betting Markets
According to the 2026 World Cup betting odds, England have a greater than 80% chance of landing a victory against Ghana. There's every chance that they outclass the opposition, with Thomas Tuchel's side somehow only 2-2 at half-time against Croatia in their first game before stepping through the gears to land a 4-2 victory.
The Three Lions will go into this Boston clash with confidence and the odds of 1.20 will be a popular accumulator bet. It's not going to be for everyone as a single but there are ways of boosting the odds. We might expect England to have their noses in front before the break. If that's the case, then you can get a bigger 1.66 that it's England HT England FT.
Tuchel may opt to field the same starting XI as he did against Croatia although Marc Guehi is pressing for inclusion in one of the central defensive positions. Similarly, Marcus Rashford produced a scoring cameo performance which could see the Barcelona man come in for team-mate Anthony Gordon, with the latter less effect against the Blazers.
With Harry Kane and Jude Bellingham both producing impressive displays, it would be a surprise if England don't win with something to spare. We're interested to see how Ghana line up for the game and they're big outsiders. At the back of their mind, they will be thinking that three points and a decent goal difference will probably be OK for progression.
They left it super-late to overcome Panama thanks to an injury-time winner after huffing and puffing their way through the game in Toronto. There's a reasonable chance that they will set up defensively here, with their record coming into the tournament not particularly good.
Goals Under/Over
All of the goals might be scored by England in this game. Ghana mustered one in a friendly against Wales and that came after being defeated 2-0 against Mexico. When the Black Stars have tried to attack, they have been found wanting and Austria claimed a 5-1 success against them in Vienna back in March. This came before a 2-1 defeat against Germany in Stuttgart.
We're expecting them to try and run a tight ship defensively for this one in order to nullify dangerous opponents and it may be that England take a while to find the breakthrough. Over 2.5 Goals is trading as the relatively strong favourite though and that's partly down to the chaotic attacking approach of the Three Lions.
The 4-2 victory against Croatia might be a sign of what is to come and perhaps Tuchel will be committed to getting numbers forward at the risk of being open at the back.
BTTS
Although the bookies have the Overs as favourites for the England v Ghana game, they do think BTTS Yes is the outsider of the two. Therefore, the best way to play this could be to go for England to win and BTTS No. Although the Three Lions conceded two goals against Croatia, those first-half efforts were really the only two times that the opposition fashioned anything meaningful.
The bottom line is that Elliott Anderson and Declan Rice should be capable of protecting a defence for whom Marc Guehi may come in and make everything look a bit tighter. There's every chance that we see Ghana operate a deep defensive line and that means it will be a struggle for them to get numbers forward in order to support the attack.
When we look through the Ghana roster of players, there's not a huge amount to get excited about from an attacking point-of-view. Nobody in the squad would get into the England set-up and captain Jordan Ayew is unlikely to cause too many problems, with Antoine Semenyo the danger man from out wide although the Manchester City player can't do it all by himself.
First Goalscorer
Harry Kane has the potential to land the Golden Boot and it will be interesting to see the measures in place to try and stop the Bayern Munich man. He is going to be given chances to score and that usually results in the ball hitting the back of the net. We can see the goals being racked up here and Kane should be on then scoresheet. Perhaps he's worth including in a Bet Builder in terms of anytime scorer.
Jude Bellingham produced a strong performance and a goal after half-time and he is going to present danger with his flexible position which often sees him playing further up the field than Kane. Bukayo Saka may come in for the right wing position but otherwise it might be that Noni Madueke is able to carry a threat from that place on the park.
Don't be surprised if Declan Rice also gets into some good scoring positions. If Ghana are operating in a deep defensive shape, then it might fall to the Arsenal man to come forward in support with the attack. The former West Ham man has shown a propensity to score from range and we wouldn't be surprised if his name is on the scoresheet here.
