England v Norway Betting Markets
England would have gladly taken a World Cup quarter final tie against Norway. The Three Lions are warm favourites to overcome Stale Solbakken's side, with the bookies offering 1.85 that Thomas Tuchel's team are able to land a normal time victory. That suggests a roughly 55% chance of succeeding without the need for extra time or penalties.
There are odds of 1.44 that England are able to qualify for the semi-finals in some shape or form. That is a 70% likelihood that they will go through to the last four of the competition. There was everything to like about their win against Mexico although a 3-2 success wasn't without its drama and that included getting a man sent off and then conceding a penalty to mean it was a grandstand finish.
Previously to this win came a slender 2-1 win against Congo where England came from behind to land a victory by a single goal. The group stage wasn't always straightforward, with the Three Lions securing a 4-2 success against Croatia before a goalless draw against Ghana and then a 2-0 win over Panama.
Norway are into the last eight and aiming to make more history. There was nothing lucky about a 2-1 win over Brazil in the previous round of the competition, with that coming after another 2-1 success against Ivory Coast where that man Erling Haaland was to prove the match winner.
The Norwegian team are greater than the sum of their parts. The front three are dangerous, with Alexander Sorloth and Antonio Nusa both playing for top-tier teams and they will flank the obvious dangerman in Haaland. Martin Odegaard and Patrick Berg are both Champions League midfielders, with Sander Berge tasked with playing the holding role in front of a defence who can be breached.
Goals Under/Over
Over 2.5 Goals is being anticipated with the bookies. There are odds of 1.72 that three or more are scored and that's been the story of Norway's World Cup. There were actually five goals netted in each of their group games, with a 4-1 success over Iraq being followed by a 3-2 win against Senegal and then a 4-1 defeat against France. In that clash, Solbakken decided to rest the majority of the first team.
Then there were 2-1 wins against Ivory Coast and Brazil. However, there were late goals in both of those encounters and perhaps this game will be tighter. Norway will be fully aware of the threat posed from England whose two knockout games have also gone over the 2.5 goals line. There was a 2-1 victory against Congo before a 3-2 success at the Azteca Stadium.
Norway will realise that attack might be the best form of defence and perhaps we'll see a high-scoring encounter. Neither team can seemingly be trusted to keep a clean sheet based on the evidence.
BTTS
It's been a full house of BTTS Yes games where Norway have been concerned in this World Cup. The Nordic side have scored a sum total of twelve goals across their five clashes and they have conceded nine times, although those four French goals came against a weakened version of themselves.
Even so, we know this team will boast an attacking threat. Mainly in the form of Erling Haaland but it hasn't always been the Manchester City man finding the net. As for the defence, this is clearly the weakest part of the team. Goalkeeper Orjan Nyland is a top stopper for Sevilla, although his back four can be penetrated.
Torbjorn Heggem and Kristoffer Ajer could be shaky against Harry Kane and Jude Bellingham, with England having scored in four of their five encounters. They've bagged four against Croatia and three against Mexico. The better the opposition has mainly seen them find the net and it would be a surprise if they were nullified in Miami.
Therefore, a win for England along with BTTS Yes could be the wager worth having. Tuchel's team aren't afraid of aiming to outscore the opposition. This bet has paid out in their games against Croatia, Congo and Mexico.
First Goalscorer
The game is being billed as Harry Kane v Erling Haaland. The England captain has scored six times at this World Cup, with the Bayern Munich man firing home from the spot against Mexico after previously conjuring up two goals against Congo. There's no doubting his star quality and this is a player who has been super prolific for his club team.
Then there's Jude Bellingham. He scored straight after the break against Croatia and then scored against Panama before notching a brace at the Azteca. The goals were quickfire in the first half and demonstrated his ability to get on the end of chances, with the 23-year-old likely to get into good scoring positions here.
It might be a surprise if an England goal is scored by anyone other than this pair, although Anthony Gordon carried a threat against Mexico and he won the penalty for the Three Lions which ultimately proved to be decisive.
As for Norway, it could be all about that man Haaland. The Manchester City man is dangerous and we could expect him to challenge hard against some of his club team-mates including Marc Guehi and John Stones.
