Can Piastri Land Another Victory in Canada?
Oscar Piastri has won five of the nine Grand Prix so far during the 2025 season. It’s little wonder that the Australian racing driver is warm favourite to make it six when he lines up on the grid in Canada. The Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Montréal will play host to the latest slice of the campaign, with the McLaren-Mercedes driver fresh from a win in Barcelona.
Piastri returned to the top of the podium after previously finishing third in the Emilia Romagna GP and then achieving the same position at Monaco. However, he was always travelling comfortably in Barcelona and is now ten points clear of team-mate Lando Norris. Perhaps there’s some value in backing the Brit considering the consistent nature of his performances.
Norris Looks Nailed for Another Podium Finish in Canada
In eight of the nine Grand Prix to date, Lando Norris has landed a podium finish. The Brit has been ultra-consistent and will now want to start landing more victories. After all, it’s only been two successes so far this term. He began the season with a triumph in the Australian GP although the only other triumph came in Monaco.
There have been five runner-up spots so far, with three of them coming when finishing behind team-mate Piastri. There will be hope that he can achieve a faster qualifying time in a pretty identical car. That might give him the jump on the Australian, although perhaps Charles Leclerc is the value proposition.
After all, the Ferrari driver was able to finish third in Barcelona and could merit an each-way wager here. He has been on the podium in his past two races, finishing runner-up in his native Monaco before landing third in the Catalan province. It would appear as though his car is performing better than earlier in the season.
Verstappen Bidding to Get Back into Championship Race
Max Verstappen was a lowly tenth in Barcelona although we shouldn’t forget that the Red Bull driver has enormous pedigree. He has won the past four F1 World Championships and could well make an impact on the current season. Win in Japan and Italy mean that we should write him off at our peril.
Verstappen is less than fifty points off the pace right now and will be eager to close the gap with plenty of racing remaining. We could back him each-way and consider it something of a wager to nothing.
