The Norwegian Tippeligaen has gone by many names in the past, having been founded way back in 1937 and is the highest level of men’s domestic football in Norway. Betting on the Tippeligaen, as with many Scandic leagues, is a great option for football betting fans. Because the season runs throughout the summer, when many European leagues have finished, there is still plenty of betting action in the Tippeligaen. Here we take a closer look at the outright winner betting for the 2016 Tippeligaen campaign and make our predictions and betting tips.

As well as tips and analysis, we also offer live odds comparison for the Tippeligaen, as well as a whole host of other football leagues and indeed other sports. Our betting odds comparison covers both individual Tippeligaen matches, as well as the outright winner market and makes finding the best odds a doddle. No more searching lots of different betting sites – a quick check here will instantly allow you to locate the biggest and best odds whoever you fancy for Tippeligaen glory this season.

Many punters, whether Norwegian football betting experts or novices, are sure to be drawn to Rosenborg. The club, from the large (by Norwegian standards) northern city of Trondheim, are not only the reigning Tippeligaen champions, but also founder members. Moreover, with 23 titles to their name, Rosenborg are by far the most successful club in Tippeligaen history.

After four games of the 2016 they are top of the table with nine points, having lost at Odd Grenland and they head the outright winner betting at best betting odds of 6/4 with 10Bet. The Troll Kids – great nickname – won the league every single season from 1992 to 2004 inclusive, making Man United’s Class of ‘92 look like serial losers. A relatively quiet period followed but they have not finished outside the Tippeligaen’s top three since 2008 and have won three of seven titles since then.

If anyone is to stop them this year, the odds suggest it will be Molde, who won the title in 2011, 2012 and 2014. Former Man United striker Ole Gunnar Solskjær started his playing and managerial careers at Molde and it was he who led them to their first Tippeligaen ever, in 2011. An unsuccessful spell in British football management followed great Norwegian success but in October 2015 Solskjær returned to Molde, enjoying a good run in the Europa League before a narrow defeat to Sevilla in the last 32.

Molde hope their local hero can elevate them once more this season and they are vying for favouritism with Rosenborg when it comes to the outright Tippeligaen winner betting. Molde are 6/4 with Unibet but generally a shade longer than Rosenborg with many bookies and it really does look like a two horse battle.

Odd Grenland are the third favourites at a distant 15/2 and whilst they have started well, they lack the class or experience to mount a sustained challenge to the two most successful clubs in the recent history of the Tippeligaen.

Overall we feel that whilst Solskjær made a good start on his return to Molde, with a decent showing in Europe and a solid start domestically, his side will struggle to keep pace with Rosenborg. Molde finished last season sixth in the Tippeligaen and we predict they will improve but only enough to finish second behind Rosenborg, who are our outright winner betting tip for the 2016 Tippeligaen.
