The United Rugby Championship is a huge competition and has effectively replaced the Pro14 tournament this season. It’s a similar rugby union tournament and Leinster are the reigning champions after claiming their eighth victory last season when beating Munster in the Grand Final.
There are sixteen teams competing, with the Irish sides looking particularly strong and three teams from this country head the United Rugby Championship outright betting market. Irish rugby seems to be in a good place and it could be the case that we see a repeat of last season’s final when Leinster beat Munster.
Can Anyone Stop Leinster Winning United Rugby Championship?
Leinster are setting a strong benchmark in the 2021/22 United Rugby Championship, with Jonathan Sexton aiming to steer this team to another success as captain. At the time of writing, they have recorded twelve wins from fifteen games and this is a team who are firmly on course to land a Grand Final spot.
Indeed, it has now been four successive wins in this competition for Leinster who have the biggest budget out of any of the Irish clubs, although they have been beaten a few times this season which means it’s not quite the done deal that some people are expecting. Munster and Ulster are certainly given a puncher’s chance of success.
Munster have only won nine of their first fifteen matches although they recently had a good encounter against Leinster when losing 34-19 and will learn plenty from that reverse. Previously to this, they flexed their attacking muscle when overcoming Benetton 51-22 and could well grow into this tournament.
Ulster were narrowly edged out by Stormers last month when clashing in Cape Town and they were also beaten by Bulls in South Africa, although these have been tough away clashes and we’d expect them to draw from home comforts in the coming weeks.
Beyond the top three Irish clubs, Glasgow are regarded as the next best and the Scottish side racked up ten wins from their first fifteen games to fly the flag for their country. Danny Wilson’s team are closely followed in the betting by Sharks, Stormers and Bulls, with the South African sides aiming to feature near the top of the standings.
