2023 Snooker Championship League
The Snooker Championship League has been won by a host of different players since its inception and it’s a tournament with a strange format. A group of players compete in the first group before the top four go into a play-off. The winner of each play-off will go through to the Winners’ Group, while the losing players in the play-off get another bite of the cherry.
It was Jack Lisowski who was able to prosper in Group 1 and that came after winning half of his six games before going through and beating Jordan Brown and then Matthew Selt to claim his spot. He has been joined by Stuart Bingham who again won half his games before overcoming Matthew Selt and Robert Milkins.
There are many leading players still left to compete and it will be interesting to see how Judd Trump fares, with the Bristolian among the betting favourites when you compare snooker odds. Trump is in Group 4 along with stalwart John Higgins and it will be interesting to see how motivated each player is ahead of the Masters tournament.
Indeed, Ronnie O’Sullivan might already be practicing for Alexandra Palace rather than this tournament, with Neil Robertson potentially a good bet considering the form that the Australian has been enjoying this season. The bookies are offering In-Play betting on each game and there is sometimes the chance to get snooker live streaming.

How Does the Championship League Format Work?
There are 32 groups of four players in the 2020 Championship League, with the players competing in a round robin format and each match comprises of four frames which means there can either be a victory or a draw.
The 32 group winners then go through to a group winners’ stage of the competition and we now have eight groups of four different players and they once again compete in a round robin format which leaves us with eight players who then go through to two winners’ groups.
Who Are the Favourites to Win the 2020 Championship League?
Unsurprisingly, world number one Judd Trump is among the favourites and the Bristolian and 2019 world champion could go deep into the competition, although Ronnie O’Sullivan is also respected and the Rocket is also trading at a single figure price.
Mark Selby and Neil Robertson come next in the betting, although the nature of the format means that the competition is wide open and we might see a few outsiders making progress in the tournament. Shaun Murphy, Kyren Wilson and Mark Allen are also notable names involved.
