The German Bundesliga is one of the biggest football competitions in the world, with giants such as Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund competing during the season and they are joined by other leading lights such as Schalke, Leipzig and Bayer Leverkusen.
Bayern are ridiculously strong favourites to win this season’s title and tend to be the dominant force in this country, having won last season’s league although they only managed a two point winning margin.
Dortmund were the runners-up last term and will hope to bridge the gap this time around with their attacking style of football, although the odds of 4/1 suggest they are the outsiders of the pair.
Alternatively, punters can look to back RB Leipzig at 14/1 or alternatively Bayer Leverkusen at 33/1 if you’re expecting a big shock in this division.
The 2019/20 Bundesliga season starts on Friday 16 August, with Bayern Munich lining up at the Allianz Arena looking to get over the line and claim a three point haul against Hertha Berlin.
While many will look to put Bayern in various European football accumulators, it’s altogether more difficult to back them as a win single at odds of 2/11, although there are alternative ways of supporting Niko Kovac’s team.
Last season, Bayern did waver a few times at home, drawing three of their games and losing once. However, there were thirteen victories and perhaps the best way is to bet on a home win and both teams finding the net.
After all, Hertha scored 23 times in 17 away games last term and will regard this opener as a bonus match to get things started before more winnable games loom large on the horizon.

The big question is whether Borussia Dortmund can capture the Bundesliga title this season after pushing so close last time around, with Lucien Favre’s side having finished just two points behind Bayern Munich in last season’s standings.
Dortmund had a superior home record compared to their main rivals and they’re strong favourites to get off to a flyer in this clash, with the team facing an Augsburg team who finished just above the drop zone come the final standings.
The visitors could only muster one goal per away game last season and we’re expecting a strong start from the home team, with Favre’s team available at decent odds to be leading at half-time and full-time in this encounter.

There’s a Saturday teatime clash at Borussia-Park, with Borussia Monchengladbach having finished fifth in the Bundesliga last season and they are now firmly part of the German top flight furniture after previously being a yo-yo club.
Marco Rose’s team were solid enough at home last season with nine wins, although they did suffer three draws and five defeats on their own patch and we’re loathe to back them to win this opening match.
Schalke had a fairly horrible season despite being in the Champions League and they only stayed in the Bundesliga by five points last term, with four wins mustered on the road although they did only lose seven times out of seventeen games.
David Wagner is now in charge of the German club after previously being in charge at Huddersfield and we might see an initially encouraging set of results, with Schalke taken on the Asian Handicap market.
