EPL Odds Comparison: Can Chelsea Bounce Back? Plus Spurs at Anfield

02/02/2018 05:00

wednesday night was a huge one for premier league sides, as we saw a full round of midweek matches. wednesday also marked the close of the transfer window, with clubs making a desperate flurry to get deals over the line heading into the last few months of the season. now those squads face their first test since the close of the window, as we have a packed weekend of top flight action to come. ahead of the weekend games, we have the latest betting tips and odds comparison.

burnley v man city: man city chase another victory

league leaders man city head for burnley in the saturday afternoon kick-off, with the clarets back inside the top seven. however, the hosts aren’t quite up to scratch of late, and they come into this game desperately out of form. the same can’t be said of city, who are coming off the back of an impressive 3-0 win over west brom in midweek, following the acquisition of aymeric laporte. that addition has made them look a little more stable at the back, which should give them a platform to push forward even more. while the proposed deal for riyad mahrez didn’t work out for city, they still have enough attacking talent to punish burnley.

the visitors have seen over 2.5 goals in 76% of their league games this season, while they’ve scored 2.92 goals per game. that brilliant record should continue here, especially with the clarets out of shape. recent home defeats to tottenham and liverpool are the only two games at turf moor which have seen over 2.5, but that should continue here, given how those two top sides put the burnley defence to the sword. as a result, we’re backing an away win and over 2.5 goals at 17/20 with coral.

arsenal v everton: gunners testing new forward line

arsenal were by far the busiest side on deadline day, as they splashed out to add pierre-emerick aubameyang to their frontline. while they’ve allowed the likes of alexis sanchez and olivier giroud to depart, the gunners now seem to have some impressive attacking options. we expect to see their new look forward line this weekend, and it will be interesting to see just how they set up going into this game. we expect both the new forward and fellow former dortmund man henrikh mkhitaryan to start here. that should add a bit of life to this arsenal attack, which is the worst thing that their weekend opponents everton could hear.

the toffees have struggled at the back of late, as seen in their 4-0 hammering by tottenham in a recent trip to north london. the gunners will be looking to rack up a few goals of their own in this clash, given that they’ve won by more than one goal in 67% of their home victories this term. the hosts are heavy favourites according to our odds comparison, and we’re backing them to live up to that tag. our tip here is arsenal with a -1 handicap, which can be found at 5/6 with ladbrokes.

liverpool v tottenham: can spurs continue their momentum at anfield?

sunday’s big game pits liverpool against a tottenham side who just cruised to a 2-0 victory over man united. mauricio pochettino’s side showed their comfort at wembley with that victory, but now they’re away to a liverpool side who are impressive at home. spurs have already lost away to the three top six sides they’ve faced on the road, and they have to be worried about suffering yet another defeat here.

while that win over the red devils was an impressive one, we aren’t sure that it will continue into their meeting with liverpool on sunday, especially with the hosts in fine scoring form. that has made them heavy favourites for the points here, according to our odds comparison.

the reds come into the weekend in third place in the top flight, while they beat man city 4-3 in their last home game. that stands them in very good stead for a result at home to tottenham this weekend, with the visitors capable of being exposed at the back. jurgen klopp’s side have averaged 2.08 goals per game at home this season, and we expect them to hurt this spurs outfit. the reds have scored at least twice in their last five home matches, so we’re backing over 1.5 home team goals at 4/5 with betfair.

watford v chelsea: blues need to work for top four

chelsea have been left reeling from a humiliating 3-0 loss at home to bournemouth, which put their top four hopes in doubt. while the blues sit fourth, they really need to up their game in order to guard against slipping out of the champions league spots. that would be a huge blow for the blues, who already experienced a year outside of europe’s top competition last year. that led to quite the financial hit for the champions, and antonio conte’s main job between now and may is to haul his side in to the top four.

while olivier giroud should help them push for fourth, the blues continue to have issues going forward. questions remain over the 3-4-3 system and its effectiveness going forward, which has led to problems for the champions in attack. we can see watford taking advantage of that, especially given that they’ve seen one goal in their two matches under new boss javi gracia. we expect another low scoring game with the blues out of form, and we’re backing this to be settled by the odd goal. you can back under 2.5 goals at 15/14 with 888sport on our odds comparison, and that’s our top betting tip for this clash.
