La Liga Betting Odds: Can Betis Derail Barca plus Faltering Real

19/01/2018 07:00

just as la liga threatened to become dominated by real madrid, things have been switched up this year. barcelona are leading the way, followed by atletico madrid and valencia. real madrid are falling apart this season, sat in fourth following yet another defeat. that has lined up another dramatic weekend of action in spain, but before you picking out any la liga bets take a look at our predictions, betting tips and odds comparison.

atlético madrid v girona: high-flying girona chase atletico shock

girona won 6-0 against las palmas last weekend, a result which leaves them sitting in the top half of the table. that’s an impressive performance from the newly promoted side, who started the season by being a thorn in the side of atletico.

the two drew 2-2 in their opening game of the season, with atleti seeing antoine griezmann sent off. they weren’t the only ones who struggled against girona, a side who won at home to real madrid. could they add to that by troubling one of the best defences in la liga when they travel to the wanda metropolitano? girona come here as big 10/1 outsiders with coral according to our odds comparison.

however, atletico madrid have been excellent in the league of late. they’ve lost just one of their last 23 matches in la liga, while they’ve won six of their last seven in the league too. they’re yet to lose a league game at their new ground, and we don’t think they’ll suffer a defeat here.

however, the visitors have scored in 78% of their away trips, with 67% of their matches on the road seeing both teams score. we expect atletico’s defence will struggle against girona once again, so we’re backing the visitors to grab a goal in the capital. they’ve scored in their last seven trips, so we’re backing both teams to score here, which can be backed at huge betting odds of 13/10 with coral.

real madrid v dep la coruna: are real madrid heading towards the europa league?

a few months ago it appeared real madrid were about to start a dominant period in spain based on the summer’s transfer business. they should have swooped in and taken advantage of a weakened barcelona, but the catalans are 19 points clear of the european champions at the half-way point.

the reigning champions league winners lost again last weekend, and that could push them into the europa league next season. a defeat at home to villarreal means they are only a point above the yellow submarine, with zinedine zidane’s side in danger of losing their place in the top four. that puts even more pressure on real in this weekend’s clash with deportivo.

zidane’s men have won just half of their home matches this season, while they’ve lost back to back games at their own ground. they’ve failed to win in three league games. however, they’ve already beaten deportivo this season, while the visitors have lost five of their nine trips this term.

they’ve at least averaged a goal per game on the road, while real have conceded once per home match on average. as such we can see the visitors grabbing a goal here, but we expect real will have too much for the relegation threatened side. we’re backing a home win and both teams to score, which is priced at best betting opdds of 6/5 with bet365.

betis v barcelona: barcelona look to extend lead

barcelona are nine points clear at the top of la liga, and they’ll be looking to add to that this weekend. their win at real sociedad last time out was a huge moment, as they won at the san sebastian side for the first time since 2007. that was despite being 2-0 down to the basque outfit, with louis suarez and lionel messi impressing in that comeback victory. ending an awful run like that must give them even more confidence that they will wrestle the title back from real.

barca head for real betis this week, with the hosts winning three of their last four in the league. that run has seen them impress going forward, winning 2-0 at malaga, while they’ve scored eight times in their last two games as they saw off leganes and sevilla. those sides aren’t up to the level of the leaders, so we still expect the catalans to rack up a big win. the liga pacesetters have won their last five matches, scoring 18 times in the process. with that scoring record behind them, we’re backing over 2.5 barca goals here at odds of 3/4 with betvictor.
