Real Betis have been rock solid at Estadio Benito Villamarín this season, with Manuel Pellegrini’s side having won six and drawn four of their games in front of their own fans. They have been particularly tight defensively and conceded just four goals in those ten clashes, with the team now clashing with a Barcelona side who are favourites to win.
Barca have not had things their own way this season and Xavi’s team have been denied a victory in five of their away clashes, although they are unbeaten on the road. They will quickly have to acquire wins to get back into contention, with the team having lost 4-1 to Real Madrid in a recent Super Cup clash.
Previously to this, there were four straight wins against Almeria, Las Palmas, Barbastro and Osasuna, with Robert Lewandowski having gotten back on the goal trail in recent weeks. The Pole has scored in three consecutive matches, although it’s probably the case that the draw represents better value than the away victory.
Real Betis beat Granada in their most recent encounter, with a goal from Isco helping the team achieve a 1-0 victory and it was a solid showing from a team who registered six shots on target in that clash. In December, they were able to hold Real Madrid to a 1-1 draw and a similar scoreline could be on the cards here.
