the big premier league kick off is just days away and after a long summer of minor international tournaments we can’t wait! this year the premier league gets started on a friday, with arsenal playing leicester in the opening match, and we’ve got a look at all of the big outright markets for those that like their bets to last all season.
the spending already this window has been astronomical, with everton splashing almost £100 million and city spending around double that. there are sure to be plenty more huge transfer deals before the window closes and we could be in for one of the most exciting premier league seasons ever.
read on as we take a look at the title race, relegation betting, top goalscorer and pfa player of the year market. with our betting tips and predictions, and our live odds comparison, not only can you find great value bets, you can also be sure you’ll get the best betting odds too, making the maximum possible profit from your winning bets.
premier league outright winner odds
with just about all the top premier league sides investing in world class attacking talent, this season’s competition promises plenty of excitement. manchester united have brought in romelu lukaku, chelsea signed alvaro morata and arsenal have acquired alexandre lacazette.
manchester city have strengthened at the other end of the pitch, bringing in three full backs and a keeper for a combined price tag of £160m, whilst two further additions to midfield have taken their summer spending to more than £200m. it is city who head the premier league outright winner betting at best odds of 15/8 with bet365.
next up come chelsea at 7/2 (william hill), with man united 4/1 at betvictor. the north london duo of spurs and arsenal are next in the betting at 10/1 and 12/1 respectively (both odds with william hill). sixth and seventh in the outright winner market come the merseyside rivals liverpool and everton, at best betting odds of 12/1 (bet365) and a very distant 80/1 (unibet).
on balance we have to say we think it is city that offer the best value, despite them being favourites. pep guardiola has now had a decent amount of time to get his ideas over, whilst he has also brought in enough players where he can really say it is his team.
we think united will run them closest, with romelu lukaku set for a big season, but our prediction is that ultimately it will be the blue half of manchester smiling come may.
relegation betting tips
this season’s relegation dogfight also looks set to be a real thriller. the big six will be battling for the league and everton, west ham, southampton and perhaps leicester will be desperately trying to force their way into the top four. more or less all the other sides in the premier league will have one simple aim, though many will not admit it and that is just to maintain their place at the most lucrative table in world football.
it is no surprise at all to see newly promoted sides such as huddersfield and brighton among the favourites in the outright relegation market. the terriers are the only club who are odds-on, with our odds comparison showing coral having the biggest price at just 8/13.
burnley are next at 5/4, along with brighton (both odds with william hill). all other sides, apart from the title and top four contenders already mentioned, are priced at single-digit odds. that shows just how open this year’s relegation scrap will be.
for us though, the value bet in the relegation outright is swansea. the welsh side are available at 2/1 with coral for the drop and that looks good to us. they look almost certain to lose talisman gylfi sigurdsson and they will struggle to replace his goals and creativity.
we predict the three sides to go down will be swansea, huddersfield and watford, but we also think newcastle are a decent relegation bet at value odds of 4/1.
top goal scorer
when it comes to betting on the premier league top goalscorer outright the bookies’ odds make it look very much like a three horse race. harry kane, romelu lukaku and sergio aguero are all available at single figure odds and we predict it is indeed one of those men who will triumph.
much as we rate and respect kane and his scoring at the end of last season was sensational, lukaku is the man to back in this particular premier league outright. the big belgian has scored goals consistently over a number of seasons playing for clubs who have not been challenging for the title.
now he is playing under jose mourinho for the red devils he seems sure to score even more goals. united will create a lot of chances for the former everton man and we are predicting he will convert more than he misses. he is rarely injured and odds of 4/1 with coral look cracking value. if you want an each way option, chelsea’s morata looks worth a punt at 11/1 with unibet.
pfa player of the year prediction
predicting the player of the year is never easy but on the up side it generally offers the chance to land a big odds winner. players such as lukaku, kane and eden hazard are sure to be in with a shout, whilst paul pogba could finally prove his worth at man united.
we think man city will be the champions though and gabriel jesus looks a value bet at odds of 20/1 with unibet to land the pfa player of the year outright. he’s only 12/1 with hills so 20/1 is a big price and the young forward has been very impressive in his short city career to date. he’s worth a bet at the odds, although we can’t advise against a bet on hazard (9/1 united) either, with the belgian the most talented player in the league in our eyes.
