However, the EFL Cup is a trophy that they have been accustomed to winning and perhaps they will be making multiple trips to Wembley this time around.
The clash at Newcastle is hardly ideal timing and both managers are likely to field understrength teams for the encounter. When you consider that Nathan Ake, Rico Lewis, Kalvin Phillips and Matheus Nunes were on the bench for a recent clash at West Ham, with Jack Grealish and Mateo Kovacic also set to come back into the team.
When the teams clashed at St James’ Park last season in the Premier League, it was an entertaining affair that ended in a 3-3 scoreline.
