Premier League fixtures aren’t any more difficult than Liverpool away, with Newcastle facing the daunting trip of heading to Anfield on New Year’s Day. While the Magpies enjoyed eight wins and eight draws on the road last season, there has been just one victory away from home at the time of writing. The defence can hardly be described as watertight.
Nick Pope continues to be sidelined, with Sven Botman and Fabian Schar having also encountered injury problems although there have been some positives. Tino Livramento has been in excellent form for the north-east side since arriving last summer, while Lewis Miley has broken into the team and the seventeen-year-old is excelling.
Liverpool are likely to be a popular acca selection despite their recent inability to beat Manchester United at home. It was a rare off day for a team who tend to score goals in front of their own fans, with Mohammed Salah likely to be flanked by Darwin Nunez and Luis Diaz, although neither have been prolific this season.
Liverpool were able win at St James’ Park earlier in the season when triumphing 2-1 against Newcastle, with the Reds able to cope with the dismissal of Virgil van Dijk and weather an early storm before two late strikes from Darwin to win the game. We can see them completing a double here, with the Reds potentially a good bet to win to nil.
