Manchester Utd v Chelsea Betting Odds Comparison

Sunday, 11/08/2019, Time: 17:30

The Premier League match of the weekend takes place at Old Trafford on Sunday, with Manchester United and Chelsea clashing in their first match of the 2019/20 season and it should be an intriguing tussle.

The big headline news for this particular clash is that Harry Maguire will almost certainly make his Red Devils debut and supporters will be finally pleased that the club have signed a centre-half who should dramatically improve a defence that has been looking porous for way too long.

David de Gea should also be pleased that there’s finally a defensive leader stationed in front of him, with Victor Lindelof likely to be the other player in the central defensive position.

Luke Shaw and Aaron Wan-Bissaka both look like decent assets in the full-back position and all of a sudden, we could see United being a defensively sound team although there are question marks over Paul Pogba as a defensive midfielder and an argument that there are better options than Nemanja Matic.

It would appear that Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford are going to be regular first-choice options for the Red Devils this season, with the former potentially operating as the lone man in this clash and the latter potentially playing in a wider position.

As for Chelsea, Frank Lampard is now at the helm and he hasn’t been able to conduct any transfer business due to the club having a transfer embargo, although Christian Pulisic was signed in January and should make a positive impact.

Mason Mount has been secured on a five-year deal although it’s Ross Barkley who is more likely to play in the number ten position and it might be that Tammy Abraham is given the opportunity to play as the lone forward.

The bottom line is that neither side will want to lose this match and we’re therefore going to bet on Under 2.5 Goals for this one.

Lampard will rightly consider this to be a tricky opening match for Chelsea and that a point will be a step in the right direction, with David Luiz and Antonio Rudiger proving to be a solid wall and they are likely to be flanked by Emerson and Cesar Azpilicueta.
