RB Leipzig and Bayern Munich played out a high-scoring thriller in the German Super Cup at the beginning of the season which saw the latter claim a 5-3 victory. More recently, there was a 1-1 draw at the Red Bull Arena back in January and a repeat of this scoreline would give Borussia Dortmund real hope that they can leapfrog their title rivals and land a success.
However, Bayern are warm favourites and the power is very much in their hands. Thomas Tuchel has seen his team recover from a 3-1 defeat at Mainz towards the end of April before three successive wins and the latest of these successes was a 6-0 triumph over Schalke, with Serge Gnabry able to score twice in a one-sided affair where Bayern had fourteen shots on target.
We should expect a more even encounter when Bayern clash with a Leipzig team who are in good form of their own and this fixture won’t hold too much fear for a side who have won seven of their previous eight clashes. The team will still be buzzing after coming back from the brink of defeat against Werder Bremen by scoring twice to claim another maximum haul.
Previously to this, there was a 5-1 away win at Freiburg in the Super Cup before a more modest 1-0 victory against the same opponents. Leipzig will be prepared to roll up their sleeves in this game and carve out chances, with the BTTS Yes angle looking interesting and you could do worse than combine this pick with a home win.
