Roma v Inter Match Result
Internazionale managed to hit a couple of bumps in the road earlier this season although they appear to be back on track right now. The Nerazzurri haven’t looked back since that crazy 4-3 defeat at Juventus in mid-September. Having tossed away an advantage towards the end of the game, they have since embarked on a straight run of victories.
Cristian Chivu’s side are now aiming for a sixth win on the bounce. The goals have been flowing and they head to the Stadio Olimpico in search of a victory. The bookies make them marginal favourites although Inter have only played two of their six clashes on the road. Therefore, it’s something of an unknown quantity as to how they’ll manage away.
There was a 2-0 Champions League success away to Ajax where they limited their Dutch opponents to just two shots on target. Away to Cagliari, there were five shots on target compared to the zero registered by their opponents. That resulted in another 2-0 victory anf the solid defence is now beginning to materialise.
However, you might argue that Roma are the value bet. There’s little to knock their early form and they’ve triumphed in six of their eight encounters thus far. They signed off for the international break with a hard-fought 2-1 win away to Fiorentina. They had to come from behind to claim the spoils in that encounter. However, there was a flop at home to Lille in a Champions League encounter a few days before. You might also argue that they’ve had some favourable fixtures thus far.
The draw would seem like a plausible outcome. The fact that neither side have had a game end all square might suggest that the clash could be level. Inter are probably the better team but home advantage could see Roma get over the line.
Goals Under/Over
The Under 2.5 Goals odds is shorter than Over 2.5 Goals by a small margin. There’s a 58% chance that we see two goals or less according to the Serie A betting sites. The previous meetings between the sides suggest that it could be a tight affair. Quite simply, this is not a game that either of the teams want to lose and that could lead to defences being on top.
Last time the teams met in April, Roma were able to leave the San Siro with a 1-0 victory. That happened before a 1-0 away win for Inter at the Stadio Olimpico in October, with Lautaro Martinez scoring on the hour mark to seal the points. Therefore, there might even be a case for going Under 1.5 Goals based on the previous two encounters.
The majority of Roma’s clashes have featured two goals or less so far. Therefore, we can confidently include this in our Bet Builders, with Inter also being defensively stronger.
BTTS
Roma have played eight games so far in all competitions. Six of these have seen the match end BTTS No. The season started with four 1-0 scorelines, three of them going the way of the Giallorossi. There was also a 1-0 home Champions League reverse against Lille. There was also a 2-0 victory against Verona, although the latest encounter saw a 2-1 success away to Fiorentina.
As for Inter, three of their past five encounters have been wins along with BTTS No. Those victories came against Ajax, Cagliari and Slavia Prague. Granted, these aren’t the toughest of opponents and two of these were Champions League affairs. However, Sassuolo and Cremonense were able to find the net as part of the victories.
What’s hard to escape is the following. Inter have scored in every game they’ve played thus far. Twenty-two goals registered in eight games in all competitions is a healthy return, with the latter encounters seeing Inter firing three past Slavia Prague along with four goals for Cremonense.
First Goalscorer
Marcus Thuram will be hoping to have an injury-free season for Inter and the striker has started in a promising fashion. The Frenchman bagged a couple of goals at home to Torino, with the player then finding the net away to Juventus before a brace at Ajax in the Champions League. He has an enviable strike rate for his club since arriving in the summer of 2023.
Lautaro Martinez has scored six goals this term and he has four in as many games, with the Argentine having found the net against Cagliari and Cremonense either side of a brace that was registered against Slavia Prague. Young French striker Ange-Yoan Bonny could also make an impact for Internazionale.
As for Roma, they have scored a modest seven goals in the space of six games and they have a sharp-shooting Argentine who could make an impact. There have been goals for the 21-year-old against Pisa, Verona and Fiorentina, with Artem Dovbyk aiming to get back on the goal trail despite the Ukrainian having a slow start to the campaign.
