Atletico Madrid v Real Sociedad Betting Markets

The Copa del Rey final pits Atletico Madrid against Real Sociedad, with the latter being the underdog when it comes to this showdown in Sevilla. Pellegrino Matarazzo will be confident that his team can give a good account of themselves, with the team having landed a success in this competition as recently as the 2019-20 campaign.

They are now bidding to win the Copa del Rey for the fourth time in their history, having previously landed a success in 1909 before coming through to win in 1987. They're sitting seventh in La Liga after an accomplished campaign and recent form has been pretty strong.

Real were able to beat Athletic Bilbao 1-0 home and away in the semis to reach this stage of the competition, with the teams having met in Madrid in early March. This La Liga game was an entertaining affair where Atleti were able to win 3-2 after Sociedad twice pegged them back.

Diego Simeone's team are fifteen points better off than their opponents in the final standings. However, there's quite a sharp contrast between their home and away form. In front of their own supporters, there have been thirteen victories in the space of sixteen matches. On the road, only four victories have been landed across fifteen road trips.

The recent 2-0 win at Barcelona in the Champions League was a stunning success. We also know that Simeone is a master when it comes to specialist games such as this one. However, recent form has seen them lose four of their past five matches including a 2-1 reverse at Sevilla last weekend.

It's hard to be super confident when it comes to a win for the favourites and perhaps the teams can match each other over the ninety minutes. We think Sociedad could be altogether fresher when it comes to this showdown.

Goals Under/Over

Under 2.5 Goals is trading as the favourite when it comes to this Copa del Rey final. However, there were five scored when the sides recently met. As recently as 7 March, the game at the Metropolitano Stadium saw the scoreline 1-1 after ten minutes, with Atleti having nine shots on target as part of their 3-2 victory.

The teams also met on Sunday 4 January, with a 1-1 draw being played out in a match where Sociedad registered eight shots on target compared to their opponents' two. In four of the past five games involving Sociedad, we've seen the goal tally go over two. On all four of these occasions, it has actually surpassed three.

However, this being a final means that perhaps we will see nerves on display and Sociedad will want to avoid going a goal down and giving themselves a mountain to climb.

BTTS

There's nothing between the BTTS Yes and BTTS No betting odds. In the two meetings between these sides, we've seen the former oblige. There was a 1-1 draw in Sociedad at the turn of the year and this was followed by a 3-2 Atletico success more recently. Last season, Diego Simeone's side claimed a 4-0 success at the Metropolitano after another 1-1 scoreline happened in the reverse fixture.

Atleti come into the game off the back of a Champions League clash against Barcelona. There will be little recovery time and there have been several BTTS Yes matches involving the side from the Spanish capital recently. Both Champions League tussles against Tottenham were high-scoring and the Madrid derby featured five goals.

Real Sociedad recently had a 3-3 draw with Alaves which suggests that they're prepared to take an attacking stance to this game. A deeper dive does reveal that they only actually had four shots on target in that match compared to their opponents' two. It is worth noting that Sociedad have managed to score in their past twenty-one games in all competitions.

First Goalscorer

Mikel Oyarzabal will be on the plane to the World Cup with Spain and he would greatly love to be jetting off to North and Central America having won some silverware with Real Sociedad. The forward is in excellent form and has twenty-two goals for the season. Five of these goals have come in the past six matches for a player who has remained loyal to the club for the entirety of his career.

Young Icelandic forward Orri Oskarsson has been finding the net in recent clashes, with the striker notching twice for his country against Canada recently. He was also on target in a 3-3 draw against Alaves, with Portuguese midfielder Goncalo Guedes having scored a brace against Osasuna.

As for Atletico, Julian Alvarez now has nineteen for the campaign and the Argentine was on target for his country against Zambia before causing maximum damage against Barcelona with a free-kick. Alexander Sorloth has also had a solid season and he had a really purple patch when scoring five goals across two games against Espanyol and Club Brugge.
