It’s always exciting when Atletico Madrid take on one of the big two teams in Spain and their home form has been outstanding this term. Atleti might not be in the title race although they have notched thirteen wins and a draw from the fourteen matches that have taken place at the Wanda Metropolitano.
Recent form has been poor, with Atletico suffering five defeats in the past eight clashes and there wasn’t a huge amount to like about a 2-0 reverse away to Cadiz last weekend. They were also recently beaten at home to Athletic Bilbao in the Spanish Cup, although the players will be highly motivated for this crunch clash.
Barcelona certainly boast the stronger form coming into this encounter and the Catalan side look an attractive bet to claim an eighth away win of the season. They do boast an unbeaten record on the road this term, although several of their clashes have ended all square and they haven’t been foot perfect in recent weeks.
A tight defence was in operation when claiming a 1-0 victory over Mallorca and the same applies when beating Getafe 4-0 before a goalless draw at Athletic Bilbao. The rearguard has certainly tightened since that freakish 5-3 defeat at home to Villarreal, although we think that the best betting angle could be to back lots of goals being scored.
