Real Madrid are red-hot favourites to be crowned La Liga champions this season, with Carlo Ancelotti having steered Los Merengues to the top of the table with the minimum of fuss. At this stage of the season, they will be glad to be eight points clear of Barcelona who are probably more realistic title rivals than Girona despite the latter’s position.

Real have won nine and drawn two of their eleven home matches this term, with the team having recently been held to a 1-1 draw by Atletico Madrid which will give their opponents some encouragement. Jude Bellingham continues to earn rave reviews and he’s notched nineteen goals this term although they have dried up in recent weeks.

Nevertheless, it’s hard to oppose Real when they clash with a Girona side who are unlikely to continue averaging the same number of points between now and the end of the season. It should be noted that the visitors are unbeaten in their eleven away clash this term and they have been able to run a tight ship defensively on the road.

Artem Dovbyk has been a revelation for Girona this season and recently fired a six-minute hat-trick against Sevilla, although it looks as though the Ukrainian will be missing in action for the next few weeks. On this basis, we will perhaps look to get some extra juice from backing Real Madrid to win the game and also keeping a clean sheet.
