Real Madrid came back after lockdown and put together a brilliant string of victories to help them leapfrog arch-rivals Barcelona and claim the 2019-20 La Liga title, with Zinedine Zidane becoming something of a points machine which bodes well for the new campaign.

Real ended up winning the title by five points and they are currently trading as odds-on favourites to retain their crown, with the champions available at a backable 8/11 with William Hill to kick off their 2020/21 campaign by making a winning start at the Reale Arena.

While Real Madrid won eleven of their nineteen away matches last term, there was everything to like about a string of ten successive wins and we’re looking forward to seeing a fully fit Eden Hazard press his Ballon d’Or claims and the Belgian could shine from the word go.

Can Real Sociedad Stop Madrid in Their Tracks?

Make no mistake, this is a slightly tricky encounter for a Real Madrid team who were a bit wobbly during the early part of last season, with Real Sociedad having finished sixth in last season’s La Liga table and they enjoyed a solid bank of sixteen victories to help them qualify for the Europa League.

Imanol Alguacil’s side didn’t finish the previous campaign particularly brightly and that will be a concern considering there were just two wins in eleven games as the season drew to a close, although Sociedad did finish with draws against Sevilla and Atletico Madrid which ultimately earned them the Europa League spot.

What Are the Best Bets for This Match?

Sociedad were strong last season although they did lose six matches at home and eight on the road last term, with the home side likely to be vulnerable against a Real Madrid side who are ready to go out in search of a fast start to the season.

There might not be many occasions to back the visitors at such a big price as the campaign wears on, with Gareth Bale still on the books and there is plenty of midfield quality in the form of Luka Modric and Toni Kroos.

It’s worth noting that Sociedad were able to rack up the goals last season, especially at home where they managed 33 goals in 19 home appearances and we’re going to take a punt on both sides to find the net.

Finally, we’ll take a shot at Real Madrid to claim a 2-1 victory considering it’s all about getting the job done.
