Real Sociedad started the 2021-22 season like a train. After losing 4-2 in an entertaining game at Camp Nou, they then embarked on a fantastic run which saw them sitting top of the table, winning five and drawing one of their next six games.
Indeed, the unbeaten run would extend to seventeen matches in all competitions before they lost away to Monaco in the Europa League before suffering a domestic defeat against Espanyol, with Imanol Alguacil now wanting his side to stop the rot and compete favourably against league leaders Real Madrid.
Sociedad Betting Outsiders to Beat Real Madrid
It’s easy to see why Real Sociedad are betting outsiders to win despite the fact that they’re unbeaten at Anoeta this season. The goals have certainly dried up in the past few games, with just one registered in the past three fixtures and that is partly down to talented Swedish striker Alexander Isak having hit the buffers.
Isak enjoyed a purple patch earlier in the season which saw him score six goals in seven matches, although he has notched just once in the past seven encounters and perhaps he can come to life when it really matters against opponents who are going to be hard to beat.
Real Madrid Now La Liga Betting Favourites
Carlo Ancelotti ditched Everton as soon as the Spanish giants came calling and the Italian has been successful in getting his Real Madrid team motivated in the wake of Zinedine Zidane stepping down the second time. Real now have a four point gap at the top of the La Liga table over Atletico Madrid, with the team having won six of their eight matches on the road.
It has now been a winning run of six games in all competitions for the side from the capital of Spain, with Karim Benzema being the usual reliable source of goals and the Frenchman is close to having twenty for the season. Indeed, the team have a healthy tally of 34 in 14 matches and it will be interesting to see if they can be stopped here.
Interestingly, there have been ten goals conceded on the road so they’re not exactly watertight and five of the previous six victories have been achieved despite not keeping a clean sheet. Indeed, FC Sheriff are the only team that have failed to score and they’re not exactly a big team in Europe. Therefore, any Real win might be only achieved with both teams finding the net.
However, we are going for the draw in this game. We can see the clash ending all square over the ninety minutes, with Sociedad capable of rallying themselves and using the home support to their advantage.
