Crewe and Doncaster Propping Up Other League One Teams

Crewe Alexandra have been short of quality since the season began. The Cheshire side racked up just twelve points from their first nineteen games played and that is clearly not a ratio that will keep the Railwaymen afloat this season. However, David Artell’s side are just a few wins away from clambering out of trouble and the same applies to Doncaster.

Rovers accumulated just thirteen points from their first eighteen matches and the Yorkshire side have had some serious problems on the road. They have take just a solitary point and scored just three goals in ten matches, while the concession of twenty-four goals means that they are staring down the barrel.

Cambridge and Morecambe Hoping to Stay Afloat After Promotion

Cambridge United were the surprise winners of the English League Two title last season and the U’s are currently making a decent fist of staying afloat in the League One table. Despite losing top striker Paul Mullin to Wrexham, they managed twenty-three points from their first nineteen games played and don’t look like relegation fodder.

Similarly, Morecambe are currently doing enough to remain in the third tier. This would be a remarkable feat considering they achieved promotion with one of the more modest budgets in League Two and they have been involved in plenty of high-scoring games so far, many of which has seen them emerge with a positive result.

Fleetwood, Shrewsbury and Gillingham Could Also Be in Danger

Fleetwood have parted company with manager Simon Grayson and the Cod Army have only managed fourteen points from seventeen games played. At the time of writing, they have lost seven of their eight games played recently, with twenty goals conceded in those matches and there’s an issue with the defensive side of things.

Similarly, Shrewsbury are only just keeping their heads above water, with sixteen points racked up from eighteen games played. The issue has mainly been that the Shropshire side have only taken two points on the road. Gillingham have been in League One for several seasons although the Kent side are also averaging less than a point per match right now and Steve Evans’ side could be in for a long hard winter.
