Netherlands have enjoyed a huge unbeaten run and have to be respected ahead of the 2022 World Cup. In recent Nations League clashes, they were able to claim a 2-0 victory away to Poland and then beat Belgium by a single goal which means that no team has managed to get the better of them for a long time.
They are very strong favourites to win Group A and even shorter to qualify, with Senegal slightly odds-on to go through and the African side can draw upon their experience of winning the African Nations Cup. They have Sadio Mane operating in attack and their chances have to be respected.
Ecuador are a lesser-known side although they were able to finish fourth in the CONMEBOL qualifying group. Seven wins and five draws were landed from eighteen games played, with the team finishing ahead of Colombia, Chile and Peru. Some will like their odds-against quote that they can reach the last sixteen.
As for host nation Qatar, they can potentially benefit from home advantage and have acquitted themselves well in some of their recent games. However, they are the outsiders to go through and consequently favourites to finish bottom. A 2-0 friendly defeat at the hands of Canada doesn’t bode well.
