we’ve got an action-packed week of european football to look forward to, with the first round of uefa champions league last 16 second leg ties taking centre stage.
arsenal welcome bayern munich to the emirates stadium on tuesday, as they look to overturn a 5-1 deficit. elsewhere, napoli host real madrid at the stadio san paolo. on wednesday, paris saint-germain travel to barcelona with a 4-0 lead, whilst borussia dortmund and benfica square off at the signal iduna park.
take a look at our champions league betting tips, live odds comparison, best odds, predictions and analysis on the four big european games taking place next week. as always, we’ll be doing our best to help you try and beat the bookies and win some money!
we kick things off with arsenal’s match at the emirates stadium with old nemesis bayern munich on tuesday. the gunners have left themselves with a gigantic mountain to climb, after falling to an embarrassing 5-1 defeat at the allianz arena in the first leg. arsene wenger’s men have no choice but to attack bayern from the start, which could play into the visitors’ hands.
looking at the live odds comparison, the best price you can get on a home win is 21/10 with bet365, whilst the gunners are available at the whooping price of 33/1 with coral to qualify for the last eight.
meanwhile, fc hollywood are 1/500 with sporting bet to make it through to the quarter finals. carlo ancelotti’s men are priced at 13/10 (betfred) to win on the night, with the draw coming in at 11/4 with betvictor.
unfortunately for the arsenal faithful, we predict bayern to pile even more champions league misery on wenger and co. in this one, and we feel there’s good value in betfair’s 16/5 for the away team to win -1 in the english capital.
also on tuesday, zinedine zidane’s real madrid make the trip to italy and naples to take on maurizio sarri’s napoli at the stadio san paolo. real take a handy 3-1 lead to italy, which should be enough to take the holders into the last eight. however, the light blues are strong at home, and they won’t let the 11-time european winners have it all their own way in this one.
goals from karim benzema, toni kroos and casemiro cancelled out lorenzo insigne’s early strike to give los blancos a comfortable first leg lead. still, the italian serie a side certainly showed signs of life at the santiago bernabeu. napoli are available at 15/8 (bet365) to win on the night, and 6/1 with ladbrokes to qualify.
as for madrid, they are available at odds of just 1/8 at bet365 to qualify for the quarter finals, whilst sky bet are offering 11/8 for zidane’s troops to win on the night.
like we said, sarri’s men are strong on home soil, having only been beaten three times in 19 fixtures at the san paolo this term. therefore, we’re tipping this one to end all square, with william hill offering the tempting price of 11/4 for the draw.
moving onto wednesday’s games, first up sees heavyweights barcelona and paris saint-germain go head-to-head at the camp nou. after a memorable showing at the parc des princes, psg take a deserved 4-0 lead to spain, which should see them through to a fifth straight champions league quarter final appearance.
barca were shell shocked in paris, having no answer to psg’s relentless and devastating attack, with two goals from angel di maria and a goal each by julian draxler and edinson cavani sealing the deal. however, since then, blaugrana have won their three subsequent matches.
despite psg steamrolling barca last time out, luis enrique’s men are the strong favourites to come out on top on the night. ladbrokes are offering betting odds of just 1/2 for barcelona to win on wednesday, with the same firm pricing them at 10/1 to qualify overall. a psg victory is available at 5/1 (bet365), whilst they are 1/20 at betfair to go through to the last 8. meanwhile, you can get the draw at 19/5 with betvictor.
although we can’t see barca overturning the deficit, we do fancy them to go close. therefore we believe there’s good value in coral’s 13/10 for the home team to win -1 on wednesday.
our last game features borussia dortmund and benfica, who meet at the signal iduna park on wednesday. rui vitoria’s portuguese outfit head to germany with a vulnerable 1-0 lead. kostas mitroglou’s strike shortly after half-time was enough to settle a tight match in lisbon. however, it’s a deficit that thomas tuchel’s men will be looking to overturn.
dortmund are very strong on their own patch, having won nine and drawn six of their 15 league and cup fixtures at the westfalenstadion this season. bvb are favourites to win on the night and go through, with sky bet offering 4/11 for a home win, and betfair pricing them at 5/6 to make it into the quarters.
despite taking a lead to germany, the best odds you can get on an away win are 9/1 with betfair, with sporting bet offering 11/10 for them to qualify. looking at the live odds comparison, the draw is available at 4/1 (betway).
we predict the black and yellows will be too strong for their opponents on wednesday, and we like the look of tuchel’s dortmund to win -1, a price you can get at 19/20 with coral.
